For those of us who haven’t gotten decisions yet, do you all think it would be helpful to contact professors as possible mentors now?

i don’t care if i get accepted or rejected…I just want closure :frowning:

i was accepted on april 6 which was a wednesday i think…

I was rejected :frowning: I will be attending the High School Honors Program though, so hope to meet some of you guys there!

still nothing lol

I got in for CS. I got a great professor and am super excited! Hope to see you guys there :slight_smile: Gooluck to everyone waiting for their decision!

when did you guys get your decision? @aprilludgate @Hogopogo

April 2nd

@aprilludgate Congrats on your acceptance!
Just asking to everyone who did get accepted, does RISE respond to you after you send your Letter of Intent and Registration?

Hey guys! I got accepted to the research practicum on March 18 and I was just wondering if the internship program was more selective than the research track. RISE wasn’t my top choice, but I got waitlisted to UChicago RIBS which was my #1 and I’m planning on applying to the UPenn Biomedical Research Academy in May. I’m just curious if anyone else applied to these programs, and what you guys think of them in comparison to RISE. Thanks! :slight_smile:

@browniebunny I received my email on Mar. 28th. Was really hoping to get in for Physics or Astronomy, but I guess that’s what happens when you apply last minute to rolling admissions :frowning:

This year it was a set deadline, not rolling admissions. I personally think the delay may be that they are looking for mentors. If we haven’t been rejected by this point, we are probably academically qualified and they r just having trouble finding a place for us. That’s my guess.

^ Yes, at this point, the issue is identifying mentors. The RISE organizers do the best that they can, however, I strongly recommend that you beat the bushes yourself. My kid would not have been placed if s/he had not independently found a mentor during this limbo phase. Get out there and contact professors yourself.

I just got in today!

@whatisyourquest where do I look for mentors? How do I know which professors to ask? Did your child just go to BU’s site and look for professors?
