Boston University Scholarships

hello everyone,

I am applying to Boston University soon and should be accepted without a problem.

I want to go to BU over a local much less expensive school, but BU is ridiculously expensive. How do I get merit based scholarships from them? Will i be considered for this automatically? do i need to call their admissions after i get in and negotiate a deal?

Well the deadline for the big scholarships passed. There was a Dec 1 deadline for some of the scholarships. I'm sure a lot of good ones are left. I'm pretty sure that the scholarships are given just by the application and nothing else.

The big scholarships had an application deadline in December (Trustee, Martin Luther King). I believe some of the other merit scholarships are awarded based on what your application brings to the school.

When my kid went to BU, ALL scholarship applicants were REQUIRED to submit the FAFSA AND the PROFILE for all merit scholarship consideration. So...check their website for the deadline for those submissions (I believe it is in January...or maybe early Feb) and plan to get them done as soon as you can do them.

D really wanted to go to BU, but their merit $$ was horrid. She had high stats, etc. and applied/nominated by her principal for the Trustee, but didn't get it. What she was offered was laughable....we couldn't justify the difference in price vs. a superior public U. Good luck tho, your mileage may vary!!!!

what kinda numbers are you talkin here?? also... to which program did u apply???

I agree with astrophysicsmom, BU's merit offer to my D was the smallest of any she received. She didn't apply for any of the big ones, just the ones considered with the application, and I do recall the FAFSA and CSS required for merit also (maybe that's why the merit aid offered was low, they thought we didn't need it).
