I'm currently in my first year at a college in Japan, and am looking to transfer to Boston University in the Fall of 2010. I was wondering if any has any extra information on criteria, looking at the requirements for transfer students, the average college GPA for acceptances was 3.5, High School GPA of a B+ or higher. Now, I'm not a bad student by any means, but I am not at a 3.5, in fact I'm not even sure I'm at a 3.0 now, my school goes by a system where an A is a 4, a B is a 3, C is 2, D is 1, F is 0. They don't do a B- (for example 82%) is somewhere close to 3.2, no matter where you are between 80-89% you get a 3 for that class. My high school record and SAT scores were fairly good, my SAT score is close to what is the average under Transfer Requirements. I'm also thinking that in this economy, there will be less people applying to many schools in general as there are less people who can pay for college. Also as an applicant coming from Japan I feel my international life could have a small weighing on their decision, hopefully college would want to be more international. Lastly I did a summer program at BU last summer, and could still get a recommendation letter from the course head, I'm hoping that could also help me. Bottom line, I'm asking if there's anyone on CC who could offer me any advice on this. To be honest, for the most part, if they based my admission solely on college GPA and SAT score, it'd be a slim chance. Do you think having a fairly solid high school record/GPA, fairly solid SAT scores, a good essay, a good rec letter from a professor at the school, being international, etc would give me a good chance at getting in?
