I'm trying to choose between the two universities. Regardless of where I go, I'm going to double major in International Relations and biology (maybe biotechnology) most likely. Poli Sci could replace IR, probably. I'm leaning towards BU, but U of F is cheaper by about 5,000 a year. Not world-shattering, but important nonetheless.

Anyway, here are the conclusions I have tentatively made:

Boston > Gainesville (for me). I was born in Boston and lived in New England for 5 years and I think I'd prefer a big city to explore.

I tend to prefer the smaller school. Obviously, this is not a major preference as both schools are big, but I think Boston's size makes it seem a little better. My question is... will this be a real difference? I mean, BU is half the student population of Florida, but it's still ~16,000 and ~35,000 respectively. Also to consider: I'm in the honors program at U of F, which means I'm in my own dorm with ~600 other incoming honors kids for, I believe, freshman and sophomore year. How important will this be?

I'd prefer to live on campus all four years (or at least more than one or two).

I'm not the type of person that would prefer to fit in, socially, with a jock crowd. I don't mind it much, but I think that BU's student body fits me a little better than Florida's. I imagine there is someone for everyone, though.

Academically, the schools are similar enough (and Bio/poli sci are common enough) to where it won't really matter. Is this true?

Weather is irrelevant to me. Gainesville's weather is obviously better, but I don't mind cold (and I'd prefer it over heat).
