Boston University vs SUNY Binghamton for accounting

Anyone have any comments on which of the two I should choose? The city of Boston seems pretty awesome but at the same time, I feel that the campus feel of Binghamton is awesome (but it has no city to explore)

Brief layout of the pros of each (I'll include a full list later)

SUNY Binghamton (5000/year, less after because of scholarships)
Non-Honors
4+1 program for Masters Degree
95% of MS Accounting get recruited by Big Four
Half of the School of Management are accounting majors (Which may also be a negative as your essential a dime in a dozen)

2 in Accounting

Boston University (8000/year, probably the same every year)
Honors Program

12 in Accounting

Better name recognition
Amazing college city

Morning bump

SUNY seems like it would offer you a pathway to what you want to do. That said so many people change majors and programs I think BU might offer a fuller opportunity at a total experience. This is a tough call esp since BU is only 32K vs 20K. I think I might opt for BU unless accounting is you dream.

Well it isn’t my dream but its my current pathway, subject to change of course. Any other opinions? (BTW, thanks vociferous)

This board moves fast ;x

If there were a serious difference in money, I’d say SUNY Binghamton, but since it sounds more or less equal, definitely BU!

BU 2/ Bing 0 so far. Anymore opinions. Btw, thanks Endicott.

Binghamton b-school grads make more out of college than BU b-school grads and it cost less. With what you can save, you can plan some nice trips to Boston.

Well 2-1 now o.o Thanks ctyankee, anymore opinions?

Bump (10char)

I’m usually bias against the SUNY system though I’m a New Yorker, but I’d say Bing would suit your needs better than BU. I would think Bing had enough major selections to keep you happy even if you switch.

Unless you really want a college town, go to Bing. Bing isn’t boring, but you have to find the fun in a sense. It’s not dazzling you everywhere you look.

(Btw visit both, if it’s a practical option at the time. They have very different atmospheres, so you would probably pick one over the other by doing so)

Yeah, my issue is that I visited both but I loved them both :frowning: If only, I could attend both schools…

Make that only 7000 for BU now, they gave me a extra 1000 after a appeal

hmmmmmmmmmmm

Up again, more responses please :(

im very surprised you liked both of these schools. one is in the middle of no where but has a nice campus and town. the other is in the middle of a city. But it seems like Binghamton will be better for you because you elaborated more on Binghamton with accounting, where as you only said BU was 12th in accounting. It’s really up to you

I’m a very flexible person :o Anyway, I only elaborated more on Bing b/c the BU site doesn’t seem to have that much info on accounting, most people are other majors.

So BU would cost you only 7K per year? or ?

Yeah, only 7000 per semester in loans

Bump…
