did some searching and found the answer to my question:

the placements are very impressive!

nope. i hope to get that info when i go to the open house.

they did quite well.

question about BU's sudden jump in rankings:

Because BU jumped 15 spots this year, does it mean that it will stay up there, in the top 30? Or will it come back down? The decision I have to make is now, but I don't want to go to a med school that will go back down 15 spots.

don't know. could drop, could stay up.

i really don't know how much stock we should put in these rankings. i think looking at their residency placements is much more important.

second, your opinion on med school depends on what you're looking for. even being in the top 50 is really solid, and your training will still be great.

what other schools are you considering?

I'm choosing between BU's med program and Duke's undergraduate. I'm visiting BU this weekend and Duke the following. It really is a killer decision.

For those of you who got into the med program at BU, are you receiving any scholarship, and if so how much?

Congrats on HPME! I think your comments have been pretty savvy. I am deciding between Case PPSP and BU BA/MD. What do you advise?

Who's all going to bu 7 year prog?

helloall87, indiana

here are a few others:

i met someone from indiana at my bu interview, then again i'm sure there were mulitiple interviewees from Indiana

hey decidin-

Case has a big advantage over BU in that their is no MCAT requirement. Having said that, I personally would take BU over Case. Getting a 3.3 GPA at Boston University is significiantly easier than the GPA requirement at Case Western (and Case is known for cut-throat sciene classes). Also, I think the city of Boston is an amazing resource to have and you will have a lot of opportunities and fun throughout your 7 years in the program. Case does have slightly better prestige and recognition for applying to residency, but I highly doubt that the difference would be significant enough to alter your residency match list. I think you will have the flexibility at BU to have fun, do well in school, and get the national average on the MCAT rather easily. Hope this helps!

I'm so excited to go to BU for the interview! I spent my summer doing my research project at BU Medical Center, so I hope that might help.

easonh89,

For those of you who said you are, "heading to BUs BA/MD program" next year...

Do they give you the final decision at the interview? How do you know already for sure that it is definite?

if you look at the dates for those entries, they are from 2005, so they had decision in hand when making those statements. plus, i doubt they still check these forums.

for your second question, i had my BU interview already and they inform you on their final decision in march/april, not at the interview... long wait.

anybody else get an interview? and how were you informed? thanks

easonh89,
Regarding about Ambulance Corps. Volunteer EMT (4 years, Captain of Youth Squad), please explain what you did!
I thought you have to be at least 18 year old to be the certified EMT.
Are you the certified EMT?

You have to be 18 to be an actual EMT, but under 18 you can become a Certified First Responder, which is 80% of the EMT course.

I've been a part of the Youth Squad for 4 years, which is the high school section. And we actually ride on call to actual scenes with actualy EMTs. And at my corps, they allow us to do everythign they would do basically. So I've had a lot of hands on experience... in fact the real EMT's are really lazy and make me even fill out the paperwork and stuff.

I am 18 now, so I am a trained driver so I drive the ambulance, and I am in the process of taking my EMT course, so I am almost there! yay!
