How good is Boston university? Especially in the field of Computer Science, Information Technology...

BU is the second best in Business in MA after MIT I think

BU is not absolutely top-notch in CS, but it's very strong (top 50).

U mean, the University is in the top 50, or it's CS is in the top 50??

In CS it's in the top 50. I have no clue about overall.

more detailed plz?

the university is solidly in the second tier but has some great graduate programs. before attending make sure you do some research on student life and accessibility of professors. my fiance is a bu alum (he was in the sciences and a presidential scholar) and hated it because of all the long lines and red tape to do anything. it is better known for grad school, but still has some fabulous programs.

Which is better for international relations, Boston University or Boston College?

I am biased because I am a BC alum, however I would argue BC. International relations is field that is best served by a solid liberal arts background and BC provides that while BU does not. Over half of BC students go abroad at some point during college, so the school is hooked up in over 40 countries if you want to study or do an internship to supplement your study.
However, both schools are good schools and you should probably choose the school that will best suit your needs, both academic and social. Also, you may want to look up admissions statistics to both schools.

I'm looking at BU for the same fields. I've found a few things out. First, I've come to believe that because the department is small the ranking isn't that great. Looking simply off of the schools that the professors graduated from they should be ranked much, much higher. Almost all professors graduated from MIT, Harvard, CMU, and a few from Boston University and other places. This means that professors have absolute top notch education (MIT and CMU are 2 of the top 5 schools). So it seems like it has a great, albeit small computer science department that is sorely underrated amongst applicants. I don't know how employers look at it, but I'd assume that based on the professor credentials you'll be getting a great education.

In terms of rankings, I'm pretty sure it's 50 in computer science and and 57 overall, but it seems to be an extremely underrated school as it is living in the shadows of Harvard, Boston College, and even Brandeis.

Also, here is the link for the faculty page: Computer Science Department at Boston University

You can get to the rest of the CS department from there.

To DHRBC07, thanks very much. I'll make sure to look into both schools a little more, but your advice really helps.

IR09 let me know if you need other info, i just gave a brief overview

if you want CS, just go to Northeastern University.
