Boston University

I am a senior about to apply regular decision to Boston University.

I have an unweighted 3.0 GPA
1800 on my SATs (I am waiting to take another one to boost my score)
And I am involved in MANY extracurriculars/clubs and also am an officer in many.

The rigor of my course schedule is very high. I have mostly taken only AP clases. Unfortunately, I failed precalculus and had to take trig to make up for it.

How are my chances of getting in?

I know that my grades do not meet the requirements for BU...but this is the school that I have always wanted to go to. I am also working very hard on my essay so that this might play a big role in the admission board's decision.

It’s great you’ve taken the hardest classes since that is what BU weights most, but I think BU is a reach. Only 4% of students have a lower GPA. And your SATs are on the low end as well (around the 25% point). Any chance your class rank is high despite the grades? That is weighted the same as your SATs and the essay.

Look at the school of general studies at BU; your stats fit the profile and you are sure to go directly to any BU school after the two year program…

Thank you for your comments!

And I will definitely look into the College of General Studies.
