Both SAT and ACT?

Okay, so back before I took either test I had a little chat with my guidance counselor. For some reason, she STRONGLY recommended that I take both the SAT and the ACT. I understood that some students are much better at one test than the other, so it is best to take both tests to find which is better for you.

Well, I got my SATs back today and it appears that SAT is pretty darn good for me; I got a 2380 (800 CR 790 M 790 W).

What I am now wondering is, should I even bother taking the ACT with such a good SAT score? Like, could it show versatility or anything? If I plan to apply to top schools such as Ivy Leages or MIT, would they want to see the ACT as well with an equally strong score? And If I do decide to take the ACT and don't do as well on it, could that make me look worse than just a 2380 SAT and no ACT would?

no there is no point in taking the ACT if you already rocked the SAT

how did you perform with such pulchritude?

Work of God? Stroke of Genius? Epinephrine rush? Luck? Idk, something just clicked.

But just because I got an 800 on CR does not mean I did not have to look up the definition of pulchritude. :p

lol its because you’re REALLY smart. that’s the most probable explanation :).

hm but I wouldn’t take the ACT if I were you. If you got a 35, well that is more common than a 2380+ on the SAT already, and a 36 doesn’t even correlate to a 2400 on the SAT, it’s more like a 2390. And I bet if you looked at people with 2380+ SAt scores, and saw their ACT scores, I doubt many of them would have 36’s. It’s like how only 18% of the people who get an 800 on the math section are able to get it again a second time.

I wouldn’t take the ACT.

Some colleges require that you submit ALL scores from all tests that you’ve ever taken. What if you didn’t do well on the ACT? It also seems to be a waste of money.

IMO, a 2380 is just as good as a 2400. The difference is negligible at that point.
