Should I even bother applying (ED)? Or do I stand no chance at all? Furthermore, even if I got in, should I even bother because I'd be that much worse off at school than the engineering geniuses accepted easily?

Apply ED only you know you would love JHU. Sounds like you shouldn’t apply ED because you’re so unsure of it being a good fit for you. As for being “worse off”. I can’t imagine you being “worse off” at JHU. if you’re accepted then you probably deserve to be there. Also, most of the kids going into engineering don’t have the slightest idea about engineering. Don’t discredit yourself so much already.

Anyways, I think you have a decent shot. your GPA and rank are very nice, but your standardized test scores are just OK for JHU. I would apply regular decision unless your really set on JHU. if so, ED would really help you. good luck.

Don’t avoid applying because you think the other engineering people will outdo you. Most of them are in the same boat. Sure, there are some that are really good, but most will have to adapt and work hard. If you work hard, there is no reason you can’t pull an A.

Are you applying BME? regardless, I think you should def. apply, if you feel that JHU is a good fit for you!! I hate to be cliche but: “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch!!”

You’re score is a bit low but if the admissions people see that you are going to go into science and math, maybe they will put less weight on your not so good CR score

is 3.9 considered a low GPA?

If you apply ED and get in, you have to go. So don’t do that unless you aren’t sure you want to go to JHU.

To be honest, your SATs are on the low side. You don’t stand in a terrible position as things are right now, but you’d definitely have a better chance if you could raise them one hundred or more points.

You have a chance ED, major reach in RD. Good luck - either way, it’s not going to hurt you to apply
