Boulder Sorority Life

I was kinda curious what Greek life is like at boulder. Are the girls stuck up or cliquey? How intense/competitive is rush / the Greek system in general? And any other opinions or information

The sororities are made up of students from the school, so if you think they are stuck up, you’ll think the sororities are too. I am an alum of one of the houses and have some contact with the current members. I think they are very diverse and nice, and very welcoming. I find the members are a lot more diverse (in all kinds of ways) than the pictures and videos they post on the website. Not all blonde and out for a walk in the mountains every day, but athletes and student government leaders and top students, majoring in every subject available at the school.

The houses are very large in membership. Most houses only sleep 70-90 members, so the officers and sophomores live in the houses and everyone else lives in the area in apts and houses, go on study abroad. We had a number of members from Boulder and a few lived at home.

The Boulder Panhel uses a formula that tries to get at least one bid to every PNM (potential new member) as long as the PNM accepts the maximum number of invitation to parties. There are currently 10 houses and I know they are adding at least one new one in the fall (Phi Mu). Say there are 1300 girls going through Rush. Each house will be allowed to accept 130 new members (there are a few twists to the math), so there should be a place for everyone.

Go through the recruitment process. If you like it, you’ll find a house. If you don’t, you don’t have to join and you might meet some new friends.
