Boutiques, part time internships

Long story short, I'm in a situation where I need to spend a semester or two off earning money for my tuition. I feel like spending two semesters without doing anything related to my major will be a big minus on my part, especially since I have nothing to show on my resume when I apply for internships next summer. I've applied to a few big firms around the area (the ones with formal internship programs) but I've either been rejected or haven't received an answer - according to some people on this website, it's hard to get a job without referral or OCR. There are CPA firms around my area that I've found, and I want to call or email them asking about possible opportunities. However, because I already have a part-time job that I would have to keep in order to save up for school, I won't be able to do a full time internship.

Just wondering what is the best way to approach these firms about internships.

PS - I've also found that there is a Booz Allen Hamilton office close by. This is a pretty rural/suburban area, so I presume it is a small branch. Do you think it's worth contacting them asking if they hire any part-time interns? Or will I be straight out rejected, since it is a major firm with much more rigid, structured student programs and recruiting process?
