General comments/advice/hindsight: Bowdoin is the school I’d (still) do anything to get into… I don’t know if I really realized that when I applied, though, so maybe that didn’t show so much in my app. Still, I put so much of myself into the application that it’s hard for me not to take this rejection personally. After getting deferred ED, I was glad that I had the chance to work harder and make a better impression on admissions the second time around, so I improved all of my grades for midterms, sent in awards I that I won after applying, etc, but I guess none of that did enough good. Maybe I was too plain? They already took somebody (a close friend of mine…) from my school ED I so I guess they weren’t going to take two people no matter what. I’m really having a hard time dealing with this rejection since none of the other colleges I applied to appeal to me like Bowdoin does. I’ll probably go somewhere for a year and then try and transfer in as a sophomore.

My advice to everyone is that there are so many things in life that you can’t control, but try to make the best of what you can control. Do your best in high school and find what you’re passionate about. Let colleges know that you know who you are. If you’ve really done your best, you’ll know. If you don’t get accepted, it’s out of your hands, no matter how unfair it may feel. Try to make the best of that. That’s what I’m struggling the most with. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted.
