Bowdoin 2022 ED/RD (NESCAC Schools)

Just seeing who is going to apply to Bowdoin ED or RD. If you’re applying to any nescac school really just would like to get to know y’all and maybe start a groupchat? Already finished my applications thankfully!

Yep, I’m not done with my supplements yet but I’m applying RD to Bowdoin, Amherst, Middlebury, Tufts, and Wesleyan. I’m probably going to do ED2 for Wesleyan but I’m not 100% sure. I just realized how many nescac schools I’m applying to considering I’m from Socal lol.

Hey! I just sent in my ED application for Bowdoin! And can not wait to hear back!

aye, i’m applying to bowdoin, colby, hamilton, middlebury, and williams! i may ED to bowdoin, but i’m not sure, haha.

Bowdoin and Middlebury:) Maybe Williams

Applying ED to Bowdoin! RD-ing to Middlebury, Bates, Conn. College, and Amherst. Can’t wait!

I applied ED to Bowdoin! RD to most of the other NESCACS.

Do we know when decisions come out guys? I am losing my mind waiting to hear back OMG!!!

Yeah even I’m freaking out, especially because they still haven’t processed my financial aid.

@StuckInRemission How does one know if they processed your financial aid? I thought they did a workup for all applicants so they are ready for when the decisions are made? D applied ED to a different school, but I have no way of knowing whether or not they processed/accessed the Aid app right?

Depends on the college. For Bowdoin, in your portal, you have two tabs. One for application and one for financial aid. And you should have a checklist of required materials on both of those tabs to see what’s missing and what has been received. For my Bowdoin financial aid, they’ve just written that they’re processing it. And it’s been the same since the day I submitted my application.

I just applied RD to Bowdoin. I was deferred at Middlebury yesterday. According to my research we should be hearing back on March 16th or March 23rd. I don’t know if I can handle the wait!!

The result is coming out on Friday! As a Chinese applicant, I’m sleeping at that time LOL Must be sleepless then

I submitted my common application, FAFSA and CSS Profile back in December. So excited and terrified!!! I also applied to Holy Cross, Franklin and Marshal, Providence College, University of Denver, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, University of Minnesota Duluth, Xavier University and the University of Illinois at Chicago. I’m planning on applying to more schools last minute, just haven’t figured out which ones quite yet. Reed College is tempting and I’ve developed a bit of an emotional attachment to it, but the lack of ideological diversity and movement away from free inquiry and controversial opinions is concerning.

I applied to Bowdoin ED 2 and can’t wait for decisions. I also applied to 13 other schools and I’d be fine with whatever happens because I like all my schools. Does anyone know how many people apply ED to Bowdoin?

Not entirely sure, but I bet it’s a couple hundred. Keep in mind that Bowdoin doesn’t receive huge numbers of applications like U Chicago and UCLA. According to collegedata.com, Bowdoin received 6,799 applications last admissions season.

I’m expecting a big increase in applicants this year. Wellesley’s apps went up by 17% last year after they ranked #3 in US News, so if Bowdoin sees a similar pattern, that’d suggest ~8500 applicants (from 7250 in the Class of 2021) and set the acceptance rate to ~11.5%. We already saw that their ED numbers shot up considerably.

U.S. News plays a big role in outreach, and landing in the top 3 for the first time is a major applicant booster. Some students don’t even click the full ranking list for LACs- they see Bowdoin listed in this page (https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges) and think to consider it.

It looks like that expectation was correct but understated. Bowdoin’s student newspaper published an article today which states Bowdoin received almost 9,100 applications. Up 25% since last year. Impressive! I’m sure USN&WR is a contributing factor but I suspect there are other factors at work.

Bowdoin Orient student paper published an article saying that applications were up 25% this year.

anybody hear when ed2 dates will be announced?
