Bowdoin Class of 2010 Go U Bears!

I’m in and can’t wait! Let’s hear from our class…

I’m a fourth generation Polar Bear for starters…

Go U Bears!

Well, I wish I could be proud to be part of 2010- If I eventually get in I'll definitely join your thread! Also, you said that you spoke with the admission staff at Bowdoin. How would I go about doing this? Should I call them first- I mean I don't think I can just show up and out of the blue say I want to tell you why I want to go to Bowdoin and why I will be an excellent asset to your school. (Which is what I will tell them if they decide to listen to me) What did you do to meet with Bowdoin staff? I greatly appreciate your input and Congragulations- you must be thrilled! Unfortunatley, many on this site were deferred from Bowdoin and can't respond but getting in is certainly better u bear!!!

I was accepted as well.
So, what are u planning to major in?

ERICgr,

When you visit Bowdoin, you usually fill out a card at the admissions office. I suppose they have me down for a visit at least 5 times, not including my on-campus interview. This shows interest. This is not practical for everyone. If you have not interviewed on campus, it might be worth the effort.

All this said, since my mom is a Bowdoin grad, the college has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. We have always lived nearby and my mom is from Maine.

As far as Colby and Bates go, they are fine schools. I would prefer Colby over Bates just because Lewiston is a pretty sketchy place. (imho)

Bowdoin does not compare with these two schools. It surpasses them on any level.

Wikipedia says: "Although Bowdoin is often compared to Bates and Colby, located in the Maine cities of Lewiston and Waterville, it shares more applicants with Amherst, Brown, Dartmouth, Middlebury and Williams."

Now, I am off to Maine for a family Christmas!

First, my apologies for considering that you were a poser on the board. Tensions were high there for a bit.

Most likely a biology major, but I will take some time to feel that out. I know my eventual path is heading to medical school.

Apology accepted.
I would have probably done the same, considering the tension then.
Did you receive your matriculation papers?

Also, I know that Bowdoin has a significantly higher rank than Bates and Colby and is generally considered a better school. But that does not mean Bates and Colby are not great schools. They are similar in many ways to Bowdoin and do attract many similar students- even though Bowdoin shares more ivy applicants. I may end up at either two (or Bowdoin) and would be happy at all three of them.

I was accepted! Bowdoin was my dream school.
Bowdoin 2010!!!!!!!!
