Bowdoin will be sending out ED II notifications tomorrow (Friday). We should be hearing something within a day or two. I thought I would begin a thread for all ED II applicants. Please copy and paste the previous post so we can keep a list of who has applied and the outcome. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Okay, so, initially I didn’t want to add my name here in the fear of embarrassment. My fingers are crossed and I’m all set to receive a rejection or deferral. I’m all calm…quite like the calm before a storm.

@Brunswick- Are you sure all letters were sent out yesterday (I know they were supposed to be). I’m an international student and Bowdoin usually emails us with decisions. However, I haven’t received anything, and hence I’m kind of confused.

I called the college earlier in the week and was told that all letters were going out on Friday the 4th of Feb. My guess is that everyone living near Bowdoin may hear something today and everyone else may get their letters on Monday. I hope the news is good for Runner83 and Intstud and everyone else getting letters from Bowdoin.

Hey Jerrick…CONGRATS! You are the first to hear positive news from Bowdoin ED II. Where do you live? Just wondering if your location has bearing on when your mail service delivered the letter.

I think Jerrik’s international. Must have received an email notification. Ah, they’re sending rejection and deferral letters to internationals via regular mail it seems. Bad.

Intstud…I was under the impression that all international students would hear Bowdoin’s decision via e-mail. The fact that you have not heard from BC probably doesn’t mean anything. My guess is Bowdoin will send everyone’s decision (email/snail mail) at the same time. Jerrick is the only person (so far) that we’ve heard from. Stay Positive!

I sent an email to the Associate Dean of Admissions. Here’s the reply-

"Dear _____:

Thank you for your message and for your interest in Bowdoin. I have learned that our policy is not to give you your decision by email until Friday, February 11. If your letter has not arrived by regular mail by Friday, please let me know and we will email your decision.

I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Sincerely yours,

Linda Kreamer
Senior Associate Dean of Admissions"

It starts off with a very cold statement. A “Thank you for your interest” email usually is a sign of rejection.
Furthermore, if the letter doesn’t arrive by the 11th, it’s definitely a thin envelope (not FedEx).

If Jerrick received an email notification (which I’m pretty sure he did), chances are that only acceptance notifications (for internationals) were sent via email, and the rest via regular mail.

It doesn’t make sense to me that Bowdoin would only email students who were accepted into the college. Why wouldn’t they just email everyone at the same time. Jerrick is the only person (so far) that we’ve heard from. If others had posted an acceptance, rejection or waitlist, then there might be some logic to that theory. From what I’ve been told, Bowdoin sent out all ED II letters on Friday, Feb. 4th. This means we should begin hearing from students today, tomorrow and Wednesday. I believe all international applicants will be notified this week at the same time. How and why Jerrick got his email on Saturday, I’m not sure. It seems unlikely that any college would be in the office mailing letters or sending emails on a weekend…just my opinion. So I wouldn’t be discouraged, intstud. My guess is that you are still in the running for a spot like the rest of us. Good luck to everyone!!

When you are notified of Bowdoin’s decison, please post it on this thread and let us know your home state or country. Also, indicating to us if you were notified via email or regular mail (if regular mail…the size/shape of the letter) would be helpful, too. Thanks!
