I haven’t seen this discussion started yet, so thought I might as well begin it. The general lack of activity around this topic for this year is surprising considering ED notifications are basically 4 weeks away. Why all the silence? It certainly can’t be that everyone has suddenly become less anxious and stressed out than in the past and we are all just content to chill and wait patiently without chatting up other hopefuls. Maybe it’s because everyone in New England is not snowed in quite yet and are enjoying the last days of Fall before hibernation sets in and the obsessing kicks in. Well, whatever it is, this topic is now open and I wish you all the best of luck in your Bowdoin admissions process and all of your other choices as well.
Hi, KarlMarx2020,
I applied to Bowdoin under ED in early October. Thank you for opening this discussion, I was also wondering why nobody had started it yet. I am very anxious, and count the days to receive the notification. Good luck!
Thanks for the replies. Good Luck to you guys as well. Do you mind sharing where you are from? I am from SC and no one around here has even heard of Bowdoin.
@jcswift13 - why did you decide to switch to RD from ED?
@karlmarx2020 i had a change of interest regarding what i would want to major in, so i emailed my rep. btw im from southern california and no one has heard of anything close to bowdoin. the NESCAC group isnt very famous around here
@jcswift13 Probably a good decision to switch if you weren’t positive. What other schools are you guys considering? If I am not lucky enough to become a Polar Bear, then I am hoping for Midd, Colby, Haverford, Harvey Mudd or William & Mary. Safeties are Oberlin and Grinnell.
I sent in both SAT (2250) and ACT (35). Low GPA though (3.8), so hoping that the test scores and taking every available AP (10) will help. Who know what it takes these days…it is basically a lottery once you get to this level of school and your stats and essays are good.
@bowdoin11 Yes. I am 3.8 UW and 4.6 Weighted. My school has a sliding scale for every numerical grade. It kind of sucks that I can still make A’s at 95 and only get a 3.8 out of it when other schools in our area allow a full 4.0 for anything from 90-100.
Yes. I had my interview with one of the Admissions Counselors in October. I was a quite nervous since Bowdoin is my clear #1 choice, but she was great and guided the conversation in a way that had me really comfortable shortly after the beginning.
@Anneliesek I did an off campus interview with an alumni last month and it went good.
Do you guys know the specific date Bowdoin sends out the admissions notifs? I tried finding the ED notif date but all I saw were RD dates. I know its in 3 weeks but december 15th? 16th? 17th? I’m so anxious to see if I got in or not OTL. I feel like I’d get deferred for having one C in my Stats class first quarter…
