Bowdoin - Class of 2020 ED / RD Discussion

Accepted 3.97 weighted gpa and went test optional

Guys pls. I’m deciding whether to apply to Bowdoin but is it even feasible for an international student to receive up to 60k aid, no matter how good you could be?

I want to apply to College of the Holy cross for early decision which has a higher acceptance rate and is need blind but I’m afraid they don’t have a no loan policy incase I get admitted unlike Bowdoin, which is need aware, more selective but has good FA. Any advice pls?!

@iocbobby10 bowdoin is need-blind.

@jcswift13. Yeah they are but to domestic students. I’m international

@iocbobby10 - Holy Cross requires international students to provide certification of finances and a bank letter or financial affidavit, demonstrating the ability to afford Holy Cross for all four years. Bowdoin considers international students for institutional financial aid, but it is very competitive. If you can afford to attend Holy Cross, you wouldn’t have demonstrated financial need at Bowdoin.

@college_query I really did my research well before applying to Holy Cross. They are needblind for international students. Submitting a bank letter and COF is a norm. Its part of applying for FA and they van see how much they give you if you are admitted. Just Google this and see, “is college of the holy cross needblind” You can also go to their website. I’ve already spoken with the admcom

Okay - then did you already apply Early Decision to Holy Cross? Looks like the deadline was Dec. 15.

Best of luck to you! I know there are many outstanding international students looking for admission to top schools, and the scholarship aid is very competitive.

Yeah.I did the International Biology Olympiad twice. I already applied to Holy Cross ED. my second ED after getting rejected by Bates. If I don’t get into Holy Cross by January when the decisions come out. I might just have my third ED(2) for Bowdoin. lol.

Hey! Did anyone get decisions back, whether ED II or RD?

@iheartmedicine its unlikely any regular decisions came out since they came out on 3/22 last year

@mikescott ED 2 decisions came out this past Monday.

@goldenbear2020 I specified regular decisions

Anyine know when we will hear for RD

It looks like last year was March 20, a Friday. I would guess either March 18 or March 25.

I am hoping 25th, the earlier the better lol. This wait is killing me, especially since i am currently taking a gap year

@daddio3

18th, i mean

Anyone who opted not to submit scores?

@Dan768 I didn’t submit any scores
