Bowdoin College Early Decision for Fall 2022 Admission

I just realized there is an optional “4th recommendation” optional. Curious if you all did that or not, and if so who did you choose?

Did not see that. Where are you finding that info?

Actually upon re-reading it, I think it is still 3 letters but instead of 2 teachers a student has the option to submit one from someone else - probably a concession since so many kids were virtual.

It was in the portal in the optional stuff page, I believe.

Let me know how you read it.

Did anyone else have their mid year grades marked as received today? My school hasn’t even closed semester grades yet so I’m a bit confused about how they god them.

Mid-year Transcript or Mid-year report? They are not the same thing. We are in Trimesters so I believe only T1 makes it and that was a while ago.

Mid year transcript. My school uses quarters and semesters

Maybe they sent Q1 - could you ask your GC? When is the semester over?

@midd_app26 , high schools often calculate a mid year grade even if it’s not in the normal grade reporting calendar. You can ask your GC what was sent.

If you have 2 semesters of 4 quarters, it’s probably the one that just ended.

Hi all, parent of ED2 applicant. Any idea from past patterns if Bowdoin tends to Defer (to RD) those not accepted in ED candidates or typically rejects ?

Generally defers. Fwiw, very few are very decisive about rejections in the early rounds.

Do we still think decisions will be Friday at 7?

My son just told me this morning that last year ED2 kids got an email on Feb. 2 saying they would hear Bowdoin’s ED2 decisions in a couple days. So maybe we’ll get more info from Bowdoin today or tomorrow…??

My son received email today saying results will be out tomorrow (Fri) 7pm.

Yeah same.

Your son get in?

My son was deferred. How about you ? The thread is rather quite.

Rejected. I’m a high need international. Wasn’t much hope anyways.

I have a lot of colleges left but I’m just really hit. It’s tough as hell. I took a gap year because I wanted to study a specific liberal arts course. It just feels as if i shouldn’t dream anymore. I’m just done.

Stay positive and patient. Will say the same to you that I told my son - you will surely get into a good school and then a few years from now this tough admission experience (which most are kids are going through) will feel distant. Lot of good schools out there and all can give good pathways.

It sounds like quite a few people got deferred or rejected EDII. Anybody got in?
