Does anyone know when the ED1 decisions are sent out? I heard December 13th but I’m not sure how reliable that is.
Hi! I also applied ED as well. I was looking at past threads and it seems like decisions come out on a Friday so my guess is that decisions come out this or next Friday.
I think we’re supposed to get an email sometime soon that will tell us about when we should be hearing back. I haven’t gotten anything so I’m assuming it’ll be next Friday.
I also heard the 13th. It’s generally on the second Friday. If anyone else knows anything please share though. Good luck to us all!
Here is an article from the Bowdoin Orient about how they received a record # of ED applications: https://bowdoinorient.com/2019/12/05/bowdoin-receives-record-number-of-applicants-for-early-decision-round-i/
Saw that! Still think it might be Friday though. Hopefully. Who else is nervous?
I am so nervous for these decisions to come out! Do you think it will come out on Sunday or Friday?
Good luck to you all! Our S is a freshman at Bowdoin and is super happy. Classes are challenging (in a good way), the students are both friendly and studious, and the professors are beyond helpful. If you have any questions, let me know! He knows a good number of kids who were deferred in ED but accepted in RD. Not sure if that will happen again this year, but seems deferred students should keep their chins up!
Did anyone get an update about when the decisions would come out?
Yes! I did just now saying that the decisions will come out this Friday, Dec 13, at 7 PM Eastern. Best of luck to everyone
Crossing fingers … good luck everyone! (Hope to see you in the Fall!)
My daughter is in! She is so excited and can’t wait to head to Brunswick next fall.
deferred.
I got in!
I got in!
I’m in! So blessed!
kid deferred. kid will now most likely apply ed2 to another school with a better (though of course not sure) chance of admission. so perhaps we’ll never get to know bowdoin’s final decision.
I got rejected in my ED1 cycle, and bowdoin was on top of my list with another college. Anyway, I really want to get in. I don’t know what to do. I’ve worked so hard and I just feel like I am going to get rejected again. I get so nervous. Do i continue in admission or just dip out? I feel like the hard work of 3 years never existed.
@HEgypt - I was rejected from my top-choice school last week, so I can relate to your disappointment, but this is no time to quit. Don’t allow a rejection from one school to define you or the work you put in for the past three years. You’re much more than that.
Anyway, you still have time to apply to other schools, but not much, so dig in. Choose a safety school and some other LACs. Colby, Bates, Amherst, Williams…the list goes on. You have lots of choices out there. BTW, expect more rejections. That’s part of the process, but landing in a good school will make all the clouds go away. Best of luck.
My D got rejected after getting a “green light” from admissions and very encouraging responses about her stats from the track coach. She is an athlete and was strongly encouraged to apply ED. She sent in resume and transcript to get an early read. According to the head track coach she was a very competitive applicant so she wasted her ED on Bowdoin. Didn’t even get deferred. Totally bamboozled. Athletes be careful of false promises.
