bowdoin ED

<p>Hey guys...any ideas ab my chances at Bowdoin would be great! (esp. from current bowdoin students..) I applied early decision and didnt submit my sats.</p>

<p>GPA weighted- 4.0
top 10% of my class
7 AP classes (three I have taken already and scored a three on each)
AP gov't, AP art, AP comp. politics, AP english language, AP english lit, AP calc, AP spanish....</p>

<p>ECs:
Varsity Tennis, 3 years (captain for 2)
"Outstanding female athlete" award given by the Mass. Interscholastic Athletic Association and MA house of representatives, I've had a lot of tournament play, various other awards, I play year round...I've also had a lot contact with the coach at Bowdoin</p>

<p>Model Congress, 5 years (captain for 3)
Best Bill Award, Bill Sponsor since 8th grade, also had a fab article written
ab me by the local newspaper(don't mean to toot my own horn...) and how I have been doing this since 8th grade and am awesome at it. Specific quote, "She was a force to be reckoned with at this years Model Congress....a delegate since the age of 12...."....and a republican to boot...but you guys get the pic...</p>

<p>Mock Trial 4 years, (captain for 2)</p>

Western Massachusetts Champion, won 1st place 4 times in a row</p>

Volunteer at a summer camp for abused and neglected children every summer
(1week per summer)
Volunteer at a summer art program for kids at a local college
(2 weeks)</p>

<p>Work:
Teacher aid at my school for four years every day after school...for kindergarten</p>

<p>Taught MCAS (mass standardized testing...like the regents in NY) to a 5th grade class</p>

<p>Kitchen staff at a summer camp...quite a humbling experience</p>

<p>Tutor/staff at my high schools summer school program</p>

Mass Mutual Academic Acheiver
whos who among american hs students....but i think this is gimmicky...everyone gets that letter</p>

<p>my essays were great, recs were aweSOME, and my 1st trimester senior grades are the best Ive had ever and I am taking 4 AP classes....go figure</p>

<p>So any feedback would be awesome, I didn't send in my SAT scores because well they were not so peachy....they were above 1170 though, so no i didnt get like a 1000 combined theyre not that bad just not lac standard...</p>

<p>You look much like what Bowdoin wants in an applicant. And, your ED application does help your candidacy as well, according to Bowdoin admissions reps. Definately better to apply early than as a RD app.</p>

<p>I also applied to Bowdoin, although I'm not sure, yet, if I will ED II. My college list is much like yours, including:</p>

<p>Williams
Swarthmore
Connecticut
Haverford
Middlebury
Colgate
Amherst</p>

<p>As for backups for you, I'd suggest looking at some of these:</p>

<p>Mt. Holyoke
Smith
Scripps
Agnes Scott
Vanderbilt
URochester
Johns Hopkins
Lafayette
Union</p>

<p>Just to be safe, the OP should fall within the 25/75 split of backup schools: Agnes Scott, Lafayette and Union pretty much fit this criteria. You might also consider Allegheny (been there, very nice) and Gettysburgh.</p>

<p>Conn College is SAT optional - match or strong match.</p>
