Bowdoin Experience

I got my acceptance letter to Bowdoin in the mail today. Included was an invitation to something called “The Bowdoin Experience” on April 20-23.

Is anyone planning on going to this? Does anyone know anything about it?

Already? Dang, I can't say that I'm not jealous...

haha congratulations!

Congrats man! Was this an early write? Or is this regular? And where are you from?

Congrats! My D went last year. It clinched the deal for her. She had a great time.

Thanks everyone. I applied regular decision. I'm from New England and received it on March 16th, if that helps anyone.

just wondering, what were your stats like?

Was it an early write though? Like did they acknowledge that this was not the standard acceptance rate?

Oh sorry, before I didn't know what you meant by "early write" so I just pretended it wasn't there .

In the letter (dated March 14th) it said that admissions is still selecting candidates and that the regular notification date is March 28th.

Good luck to everyone, I hope to see some of you in April.

wait---so did they shorten the notification period? I thought we would find out early April, like April 3rd or 4th? I mean, I'm not complaining about March 28th, but how come we didn't receive word about this?

The competition for good students is hotting up at top schools. Schools that notify late do so at their peril. The official printed notification dates are becoming meaningless.

Bowdoin did early writes this time last year, too.

Congratulations!

Now it's time for me to begin obsessively checking my mailbox everyday for the next two weeks.

Bowdoin really has an impressive admissions office. The acceptance letter is so personalized, with more details from extracurrics, etc., than other schools, that the applicant really believes that there are truly caring individuals at the other end. I'm impressed by Bowdoin.

Zuma, did you get a letter already too?

are the people receiving these letters students of color?

I heard Bowdoin tries to attract these students by notifying them earlier than the rest of the pack...correct me if I'm wrong...

I know people who've gotten the letter. I'm not a college applicant.

Bowdoin is very diversity oriented. They take pride in it. A variety of people receive the early writes.

"are the people receiving these letters students of color?"

Wait a second, do you mean I didn't have to memorize those 2000 vocabulary words after all?!

And here I was thinking I got in because of my SAT scores.

I'm sure it is a combination of both. What were your STATS?

I received an Early Write acceptance to Bowdoin today( March 17th) and I'm an upper-middle class white kid from Newport Beach, CA. So I don't think they just accepted "students of color."
