Bowdoin Interview Process?

Did you request a interview? Did you do Skype? In person? Thoughts?

My son had one the summer before his senior year. Just called up admissions, told them when we would be in town and they scheduled it. It may have even been on a Saturday, but I’m not sure. I know they do alumni interviews too, from September until early Dec I think. Not sure about Skype.

I had an alumni interview, which I requested online. He called me but we kept playing phone tag, and ended up emailing back and forth. We met in a cafe/restaurant place and talked for about 2 hours. Some of the questions were straightforward but some were pretty esoteric (what do you dislike most in a person? what are your three favorite restaurants and why?). We seemed to be pretty well matched, so that probably helped. We’re still in contact and hopefully it helped with my app.

I did an interview on campus. If I recall correctly I signed up online.

The interview was my shortest one ever lasting just over 20 mins.

My opinion is the interview can be very important for this school.

I wish I’d scheduled an interview earlier, but I applied after the interview cut off date. Do you think they’d still schedule an interview at this time if I requested one?

It is unlikely as you have missed the deadline but you could call them and see if in the off chance they are able to interview. If they can’t don’t worry about it as they are not required.
