Bowdoin Legacy Help!

Hey everyone! My mother graduated from bowdoin. How much does being a legacy help? Should I apply ed or rd?
Thank you all for your help!!!

Being a legacy is a boost but generally only helps at the ED stage of the admissions process.

It’s not a make-or-break factor, but it can make you stand out during the decision process. YOU should decide for yourself if you should apply ED or RD - if you are 110% sure that Bowdoin is you’re top choice and you wouldn’t go to any other school on your list if they offered you admission, then apply ED. If not, RD. I’ve never heard of legacy only mattering in ED, but neither of my parents went to college so I haven’t not done a whole lot of research on this topic.

sigh – legacies are like athletes – most NESCACs, including Bowdoin, expect them to apply ED. They don’t want to be used as a fall back in the RD process.
