Bowdoin Legacy?

Anyone have any insight as to how much weight (if any) Bowdoin gives to legacy applicants?

According to the Common Data Set, it’s “considered”.

There’s lots of articles - but all 10 years old or so, that say it’s definitely there…no clue if it’s still as robust - but clearly a help.

How they define legacy - I could not determine.

Anecdotally, it serms to be helpful. (I say this based on how many of the folks I know who are Bowdoin alums have kids there. I don’t know what their giving has been bit pretty sure they aren’t major donors.)

With that said, the legacy applicant must be as qualified as any – legacy status will not make up for other shortfalls. At many schools, to get the benefit of legacy status, you need to apply ED. You can almost certainly ask someone in alumni relations.
