Do you guys think I could get in? My grades are weak and I could use more awards…but I think i show that I’m really into current events and politics…any current Bowdoin students have any comments?

I think you're a good candidate. True, numerically your grades might be weaker than some, but taking the rigor of your classes into account casts those numbers into a more favorable light. Your SATs are awesome, as are your ECs. I wouldn't worry quite as much about awards...my sense is that they're kind of the icing on the cake for some candidates, but you've already got plenty of substance. :) Basically, I think you've done all you can to get in as far as your stats and stuff goes, so now it's up to chance and what the pool looks like this year.

Disclaimer: I'm also applying for admission this year, so I might have some of this stuff totally wrong, since I'm just a confused prospie, too.

Good luck!

Thanks : )

does anyone else have any thoughts?

hey i'm applying regular to bowdoin, i'm a legacy and have a lot of knowledge about bowdoin. You may not believe this but you shouldn't list all of your ecs. you've listed way too many and you're resume just screams "im doing this for college!" bowdoin likes individuals who are truly engaged in what they are doing...no kid could be doing everything they possibly could for each of the activities you listed! put down maybe the 5 most important ones and emphasize what you do. you won't be sorry, promise!

ps. i agree, you're a good candidate but then again, so are 75% that apply.

cmo8391 is a party pooper

and i gave significant amounts of time to most of those extra curriculars and the others (ie NHS, Tri-M and the like) are known to just be titles

Make a resume and then on the common app....submit it in the additional section at the end. thats what I was told to do. I don't think you have too many at all. just make sure and really make a point of the ones you were really heavily involved with
you have a really good chance
