I'm applying to Bowdoin, and decided not to submit my SAT or ACT scores. But I took some SAT II's for other college sI'm applying to, and I got a 760 on US History and 680 on Literature. Does anyone know if Bowdoin looks @ SAT II's or if it will help me at all if I submit them? Thanks!!!

hey there. i am super psyched to see another person applying to bowdoin! (i'm applying as well, ED)

i'm sure they will look at SAT II's if you submit, but unless you feel your application would be slightly weak without them, i would save the $8.50 score report and just not send them. if you get accepted you might want to show them for placement?

i'm not really sure, i took sat ii's and did TERRIBLE, so definitely told them to ignore them and the SAT I's i took and just look at ACTs.

yeah, I'm still not sure, I might just skip them. My history score is good, and my lit score is okay, but nothing super-amazing, so I'm not sure how much it i wll really add to my app. That's so exciting that you're applying to Bowdoin too! I'm applying RD; but good luck, I hope you get in!

If you send your SAT2s, your SAT1 scores will be on the report if you have taken those tests. Maybe you can just self report them on the app.

Though Bowdoin does not require SAT IIs, it will consider them in the admission decision if you submit them. As noted above, if you order the College Board to send the IIs, it will also automatically send your SAT.

good question here, I'm applying to Bowdoin too and I'm wondering whether or not to send my SAT 1.. I have a high GPA, so I don't know if a not-so-stellar SAT would disadvantage me.

If you submit scores, Bowdoin will want the official College Board SAT report in addition to what you self report on your app.... I THINK they should "strike-out" those scores you elect not to report, but I could be wrong here. A couple of summers ago visiting Bowdoin, I recall a description from an admissions rep on this topic. here's what I remember...One of the first things they do when app materials roll in is black-out scores that you do not choose to have them evaluate; a clerical person has this chore so as not to taint any of the admissions reps who might be judging your app. So (here's where I'm speculating a bit), if you elect to have them evaluate just your SAT 2's, and those are what you wrote on your app, I presume they would black-out the SAT 1 scores on the College Board report (which includes ALL SAT scores), prior to evaluating the whole app package. Their App Instructions (http://www.bowdoin.edu/admissions/pdf/applic_instruc_06-07.pdf) aren't too clear on this point, and imply that its all scores on the official report or none. If it were me, I would definitely call to find out how they do this.
