Bowdoin vs Davidson

Hi,
I’m trying to figure out whether to apply ED 2 to Davidson or Bowdoin.
Could you help me compare the two?
Thanks!

North v. South. North wins.

JK.

Davidson is more sporty and has frats.

Those are my top 2 choices too!
I agree with Tzar09 that Davidson is more sporty, especially in basketball. There is Greek life. The food is probably better at Bowdoin, although only Davidson has a whole YouTube rap devoted to its dining hall (search “I Love Commons”). Davidson is known for its academic intensity-you should only apply ED to Davidson if you are passionate about academics and willing to work hard/risk grade deflation if it means learning. Bowdoin too, but not to the extent of Davidson. Davidson’s community is centered around the integrity of the Honor Code.

However, in terms of Early Decision and wanting to get an inch closer to acceptance, I would go with Bowdoin. It’s slightly harder to get into and ED may give you an edge. Hope I helped!

If you are interested in Bowdoin I advise you to apply ED 2 because it will give you a leg up as dancepsychlove said. It is difficult to get into Bowdoin.

Bowdoin also has the best food in the country according to the Princeton Review and no greek life. Greek life has been substituted by “social houses” which are very inclusive and open.

Bowdoin is also rated an A+ on CollegeXProwl3r in academics along with housing and facilities. It has been selected as College of the Year by CollegeXProwl3r for two years.

Maine is very beautiful and Bowdoin is along the rocky coast of the Atlantic (there are some very beautiful beaches nearby too).

Both are good colleges, but the thing is do you want to go to college in New England or the South?

Bowdoin is also a very historic school. You can shop at Freeport (which has great outlets and stores) and Portland (which has a very eclectic vibe). Plus Bowdoin’s mascot is a POLAR BEAR :).

Thanks everyone, this really helps.
Odd question, maybe, but pretty much everyone I know who attends Bowdoin is an athlete, which I am not. Is it easy to fit in if you aren’t on an interscholastic team?

Less than half of the students participate in varsity sports or club sports.
