Bowdoin with a 2180 SAT?

I’m a junior, just took the SAT for the first time and got a 2180. I will retake, but I’m wondering if a 2180 is even remotley competitive there, or if I have to get that way up? If that’s not going to do it, what will?

Good news for you: I’ve just been luckily admitted and I got 2180 too. Since Bowdoin is test-optional, there won’t be much stress put on SAT scores. However, if you submit, them will consider them seriously as all other factors. So if you can make it as higher as you can, you just stand better chance.

P/s: let’s me guess, you’ve just received your score today?

Good guess! glad to know that my score is in the range of admits, hopefully it will be higher but it’s in the realm of possibility which is good to know.

I just got in with a 2150, and that was superscored. A 2180 would definitely put you in the range, especially if the scores are relatively balanced.

You still have plenty of time to retake the SAT and increase your score. If you stick with the 2180, your chances at Bowdoin would be much better ED.

However, just like everyone always says, Bowdoin is SAT optional, so I don’t think a 2180 would mean a decisive yes or no.

Um, it’s MORE than remotely competitive. It’s competitive. They’ll focus on other factors.

I had a 2250 and I got in. A 2180 is competitive, as long as your grades, ECs, and essays are also competitive, there is no reason why you should not get in.

What if the grades are 3.65?

While a 3.65 is not great, it all depends on the rigor of your high school, test scores, ECs, and whatnot. I went to a public school, so a 3.65 was good, but not good enough to be competitive to a place like Bowdoin. At my average public school, I had a 3.85~ish and thought that was competitive and was neither a strength or a weakness in my app.
