Hi everyone!
I am looking to apply to Bowdoin Early Decision I.
I am a recruited female track athlete/ crosscountry.
I took a few honors freshman and soph yr and 2 APs my junior year.
One issue that I am facing is my SAT scores: the first time I took the SAT I scored a 1730. I am planning on taking the ACT and SAT in the fall as many times as possible, but I know that Bowdoin is test optional. Do you think it matters if I send them or not? Will this hinder my chances?? What do you think I should shoot for?
I have been playing the piano since 2nd grade and been taking vocal lessons.
I have been apart of an elite vocalist group for 4 years (our schools choral ensemble)
I am planning on taking 4 APs next year.
I am anticipating excellent recs (my my AP biology teacher and english teacher)
I got As in both of my AP courses as a junior.
I have been in NHS for 2 years.
I have been in our schools environmental club for 4 years.
I have been a member of student council for 2 years.
I am designated outdoor, indoor, and xc captain for my senior year.
I have completed 9 seasons of competitve running (freshman, soph, jr years) and have won countless athletic awards.
I am actively involved in my community and church (over 125 service hours)
I volunteer in the summer weekly at a library children’s program.
I am working on forming a cancer awareness club at my school.
I have been talking to the coach for awhile now and we have set up at lunch meeting.
I am confident that my essay will be great
Can someone please tell me my chances of getting in or what I need to do to improve my resume ?
@hazel1 It will not. That school has been test optional for 45 years.
Have you been preread yet? This is very important.
No not yet @BatesParents2019
Request a pre-read. Send your official transcript , school profile report and senior year course schedule. This is pretty normal. More than likely they will ask you for that information in the coming weeks anyway.
Don’t send the SAT scores.
In the preread they will score you and determine if the coach has the ability to continue recruiting. They will score you by A, B or C Band. Coaches seem to prefer B band recruits because they are more likely to attend and don’t require as much political capital as C Band recruits.
The other important point is that NESCAC recruiting is done during early decision. So this is why you need feedback on the preread or else you could miss another opportunity.
