Hi. I have a couple of questions about Bowdoin.
Im concerned about the remoteness of the campus. What do typical Bowdoin students do on weekdays?

2) Ive heard that at small rural schools theres not much else to do but party. Is Bowdoin a big party school?

3) I know it is a great school academically. What specifically is Bowdoin known for and what classes are the most popular/interesting?

4) What is your favorite thing about Bowdoin?

Thanks, any specific information would be helpful. Any information from athletes would be greatly appreciated because im looking to apply ED as a recruit.

Most freshmen in my dorm stay on campus during the week. They work and procrastinate and socialize in the dorms and in the Union.

I don't drink and I have plenty to do on the weekends. The party scene definitely exists, but you can control how much it affects you.

The government deptartment. is excellent as is Enviro. Studies. I also believe the History and Econ. departments are quite strong as well.

The people. Some of the warmest and kindest people I've ever met...

College200735 - Congrats on being recruited!. My son is attending Bowdoin as an athletic recruit. I would strongly encourage you to visit campus and stay overnight. My son thought he wanted to attend school in Boston until he spent time on campus. As you probably know, if the coach gives you an athletic slot or tip and you have a positive early read on your application by admissions, you have an excellent chance of being admitted. At some non NESCAC schools, the coach carries little influence and sometimes recruits are not admitted.
My S. describes the student body as funny, kind, very bright, and helpful to one another especially with academics.Government, economics and biology are well regarded. My son states that there is a tremendous amount to do with many clubs, volunteer organizations, sports participation is very high etc.
What's best - echo Ksolow - the people, but add the interesting profs, #1 food, sports, and the facilities - check out the freshman dorms.

This is what I keep hearing from students who have done overnights there. My D found it at Williams, too: a really appealing, refreshing change from the Ivies.
