Boyfriend off to college 20 minutes away

D1 is still with her high school boyfriend, despite some ups and downs their freshman year in college. They are at different colleges about three hours from each other. Their applications did overlap a little, and I was very relieved they didn’t go to the same college. So I do understand your concern. But I would be very careful to say too much about it to her. She will resent it and will fight you on it. She doesn’t want to hear about their potential breakup and how it will affect her.
There are pros and cons to being together at the same school, and what will be will be.

I have just reread all of these posts again- D has decided to go to the same college as her Bf of 2 years- they have never broken up> My D is more of a student than him.-it is a very good LAC but very small. We hsvrtalked and talked about what would happen (but as friends have said they haven’t broken up yet) and she spends time out there on the weekends so we will just see- I want it to ber HER decision and she will have to handle it if there is a breakup. My neighbor just said i wish I hadn’t gone to school with my BF so it got me back to rereading all of this-

During jr. and sr. year of h.s. I dated my two years older bf who was at a college an hour away from our hometown. We were from same hometown but never dated until he went to college. I only applied to his college.
When I arrived at college, we thought our dream of always being together had come true. It was too much of a good thing. We didn’t even make it to Christmas break. He broke up w/ me just before fall sem. exams.
I bounced back when I got home for Christmas. Started dating another guy from our town who was a senior at a diff. college. We got married eighteen months later. In June we’ll celebrate our 29th anniv.
So even if going off to college with the BF doesn’t work out, there might be something better around the corner.

My sister had a boy friend at the end of senior year.
My dad sent my sister to Hawaii to summer school.
that was the end of that
