Vampire rumors prompt Boston Latin alert - about bullying - The Boston Globe

I'm sure you Boston people have already read this, but for others on this forum, this article comes as a surprise>

And it’s not even April 1st yet! Boston Latin is a coed public exam school. Roxbury Latin is a private day school for boys in 7th - 12th grade.

Sorry about the name mix-up - I meant Boston Latin, of course.

(We have a Boy’s Latin Charter school in Phila. and I used to live in Maryland where we also had a Boy’s Latin.)

I thought you did. It’s a shame there’s no way to amend titles after a thread’s been started.

There is a vampire-type cult that was popular for a while, though. That must be what they’re talking about. These kids wore pale make-up, dyed their hair black, partcipated in blood-drinking rituals, etc.

In this case, it does sound like a group of students decided to single out another student for his choice of dress. It is too bad that there is this level of intolerance at a school such as Boston Latin.

It seems to have started with a “Mean Girls” situation:

I hadn’t seen this expanded article. The article’s a collection of “kid rumor.” Maybe there was an original incident, but it sounds to me as if the students are outdoing each other in coming up with bizarre stories, while the reporter writes it down.

I’d expect an article like this at Halloween, not nearly Easter.
