<p>can you not do both boys state and brown? the boys state usually only last a week and it is usually in June. my son is doing both, if he is selected for boys state.</p>
<p>DS did not care for Boys State at all. Many kids were already members of ROTC clubs, very pro-serve your country or simply interested in pursuing politics. He and his high school friends attending Boys State felt the majority of kids there were just on a different life-path.</p>
<p>DS attended 2 summers ago. Someone I know who attended last year, also from North Jersey, felt the same way. </p>
<p>Of course as a parent, I do think it adds another facet to any student applying to college. That, and the fact that if asked to attend you are sponsored, makes it a must do, at least in my opinion.</p>
