First off, I apologize since this is probably the #1 asked question on this or any other site related to engineering majors but I figure I may be able to get a tailored response to my situation from you more experienced folks.

LONG VERSION

Time is almost up for me to decide. I was set on mechanical, but started to really think about things lately and about all of my endeavors of curiosity throughout my life and I realized that I've always been more electrically geared (soldering things, fixing/attempting to fix electronic things, always been into computers and enjoy programming though I know I don't want to do compE but I'd like to pursue programming a bit more, wiring guitars, setting up studios, that sort of stuff).

Now I know it may seem obvious that I should go EE but when I think about mechE I don't want to leave behind the breadth of knowledge I would gain from its diversity and I also have an interest in working with alternative energies, solar and geothermal, possibly biomechanical, etc.

I loved physics I (mechanics), I loved physics III (waves, thermodynamics, light) and I'm currently starting to really like physics II (E&M, yes they are out of order by you can take II and III in any order at my school). I've taken Statics, I did very well in it, and am currently in Dynamics which I can see how awesome it would be to apply this stuff.

SHORT VERSION

I feel like mechE doesn't give enough electrical training and I feel like EE doesn't explore enough outside of electromagnetism.

I don't want to enter mechatronics/electromechanical engineering (it's not offered at my school and I feel like it's too specific anyway) and I can't double major. I plan to go to graduate school afterwards where I could try an blend the two, but I'm focusing on bachelor's level for now.

I've also heard that there is not much of a difference between the two when you actually get out there to work. Is it possible for an ME to do EE tasks or vice versa if I plan my technical electives accordingly?

I know this is a disgustingly common question, what have you guys done to help you decide? Thanks!
