Braces in college?

Please don't take my self-conscious behavior as a sign of low intelligence, I just have really low self esteem... honestly, I've got an average IQ (113) and am really excited to concentrate on my studies next semester.
Hii, I know this is probably a stupid question, but due to financial difficulties with the family, I wasn't able to start braces until the month before my senior year of high school, and I need them on for 1 1/2 years.
Now I know this is superficial and silly, but I've always been a very shy person, and don't make friends easily due to my ... interesting personality ... >.< Will this hinder me even more, going off into a new kind of life, with braces hindering my smile?
Are college students as judgmental as high schoolers and middle schoolers? I don't think they would be, but is it true?
Or do you think my orthodontist would be willing to take them off six months before it's scheduled?
Thanks for reading. :3

Edit: Also, um, do I have, like, no chance at starting a relationship now? I mean, I'd be careful and all, but seeing how I'm lesbian I feel like it'd already be tough on me. :(

This post feels trollish.

I enjoyed the entire post, but I almost loled IRL at the last paragraph.

No body cares so don’t worry. Wait till ye take a look at me snaggleteeth… yarr

Do not worry about relationships, just be yourself and they happen. be yourself.

Ya Scurvy Dog!

Also he is NOT going to take them off for no reason like that, it would Your Teeth would F back up again.
Arr matey you’ll walk the plank fer this.

Why would you mention IQ when asking about braces …odd .

Just don’t get hit in the mouth…because those things will cut up the inside of your mouth like none other…

It might be a legitimate post, but typically when people worry about braces in college, they usually worry about the money and the travel issues (monthly appointments, so would have to go back and forth every month) before they worry about their social life… And no, no one will judge you because of braces. Also, 6 months is NOTHING.

Unless you want crooked teeth/over/underbite, whatever your situation is, I suggest you keep them on. The dentist won’t take them off early anyway. Get them over with now before you delay them 10 years down the line and wish you would have kept them on in college. Braces aren’t really a big deal, luckily I got mine off before college and only have to wear invisible retainers, but they can give you a younger appearance, not that would deter anyone from talking or being in a relationship with you.

Don’t worry about the braces. One of my best friends went off to college with them. She made a lot of friends (because no one cares about braces), and got a boyfriend that she’s still with (because no one cares about braces).

Hey, just think. You only have a year and a half to wear braces. I’ve had mine on for almost 5 years. Consider yourself lucky. I got mine off this summer before I head off to college.

*rolling eyes

No one gives a crap about braces. Braces aren’t a detriment to your live they’re benefiting you. Your teeth are going to be perfectly straight and beautiful. And it shouldn’t matter what people say or think anyway!

I really don’t think it is a big deal! I knew a few people who had braces freshman year and they seemed just fine. Hold your head high and don’t worry about it :)
