Braces in junior year?

If you saw a girl get braces partly into her junior year what would you think? Would you pick on her even if she was pretty? Needless to say I'm really nervous. New school, too.

Nothing wrong with braces junior year.

Better late than never.

Braces or no braces, doesn’t really matter, no one will think differently of you. There are so many people in their junior year that still have their braces at my school; even my friend got his this year for the first time.

well it’s better than having braces in college.

Haha I’ve had braces since mid-way through 6th grade with a temporary break in 8th grade (something to do with teeth movement and such; I don’t recall the details), and I’m apparently not getting them off until sometime senior year. Believe me, if you have to deal with them, rock them. Nowadays, so many people have braces that it’s weird to make fun of people with them.

No one will care whether you get braces or not. Just get it; the most you’ll ever get is “Hey, you got braces.”

Most of the time in hs there is less teasing about that sort of thing. It’s more about, I don’t know, your personality, etc. I think you’ll be fine, good luck at your new school!!

People don’t care if you have braces. I’m getting mine or senior and most likely will have then halfway into college, but I won’t feel self-conscious because I know it won’t hinder socializing.

Braces are hot

I’m a senior, and there are people in my grade who have braces. My best friend who’s a freshman in college has them too. I don’t even notice any more. Id rather get the braces than have crooked or whatever teeth.

My son had braces junior year. Actually they make them clear colored these days so they aren’t nearly as noticeable as they used to be.

^ A lot of my friends payed extra to get clear ones, and my advice would be don’t bother. They look really yellow and are still pretty obvious.
I had braces for nearly two years, and I actually had quite a lot of fun choosing colours and stuff (although I was never brave enough to go multicoloured!) and after you get them, its not a big deal as everyone just gets used to you wearing them

I had braces for seven years - second grade through middle of freshman year with a short break in the eighth grade. Nearly everyone gets braces nowadays - having them is no big deal. Good luck at your new school!

i hated having braces, and in fact i stopped wearing my post-braces retainer (when felt awful) after i got them off (god if i had just been a little bit more independent when i was younger i would have resisted them) … so my teeths went back to how they were before, which was perfectly fine by me.

unless the … orientation of your teeth gives you undue anxiety i don’t really see the point in braces. 80% of the time they can probably be called an expensive scam which causes pain and inconvenience … i certainly wouldn’t want to fall for such a scam.

@enfieldacademy your experience with braces turned out to be an expensive scam because you chose not to keep the effects of having them. I hate my retainer with a passion (its nearly broke from me biting on it) but I’m not going to make wearing braces for two years pointless by not wearing it.
Also I didn’t really find braces that painful/uncomfortable except from the days (3 a year) that I got it tightened. I just got used to them.

Also, I got my braces free, the joys of the NHS :D
