Braces

I wore mine for 1 1/2 years, and got them off at the end of sophomore year. I wear a pain-in-the-but retainer at night, but the braces were worth it. I'm so happy with my smile :D

My orthodontist made me wear retainers in 8th grade before I got braces. I got braces starting Freshman year and I'll probably get them off in the beginning of Junior year. I'm not looking forward to wearing retainers again. In my opinion, they're worse than braces. >_<

i gotta have braces someday;; my front tooth are out of control!!

how long does it take? cost??

My treatment cost around $5k. But my teeth are looking pretty good so far.

mine costs a bit over 5k. I got it on a month ago and I have to wear it for 1.5 years.
I had to wait since 7th grade until I stopped growing taller.. weird i know

mine was around 5k as well....

i had braces 6-9th grade. and i was SUPPOSED to have it for 3 months...go figure. but they're off. i broke all those rules though - no ice, no popcorn, nothing chewy, no gum (i'm a gum-aholic!), nothing hot, nothing sweet --- i broke every single one atleast once a day. i'm not the "rule" type =)

i've had a retainer ever since. i wear it every night unless i forget. i've forgotten for full weeks sometimes. or i'd forget to take it with me on trips. but they don't move too much. they've moved a little but they still look like i JUST got them off =)

i was supposed to wear them everyday for the first year after i got htem off but i sound horrible in them. i still can't talk in them - i have the worst lisp ever because i talk alot from the space behind my teeth (making my speech very precise and sharp) and with that all being covered by the retainer, i sounded like a two year old girl. so i refused to wear them to school, and i didn't. i still can't say "str" w/ it on.

don't remember the price, just hte reaction my parents had to the price. they were like "if you mess this up...we'll...kill....you..."

Got them in grade 6 and off in grade 8. Then, had them put back on in grade 9 and I am still in them (grade 11)! I should have them off by the end of the year... as long as it is before grad pictures next year I don't care. :)

never had 'em... i would totally suffer if i did have 'em:
no gum or caramel allowed = pure torture!!!! lol!

I have had them on for sooo long! but i still chew gum and eat caramel lol

lol! then why do they try to make you not do those things?

I'm probably getting braces in a couple of weeks, so that my teeth will be aligned correctly when I do the oral surgery. Then a couple of months more after that.

Awful experience with this. I developed two cavities in one tooth because the band covering it was loose, and food got stuck in there. They pumped me up with novocaine but the drilling was still incredibly painful. Both of my teeth that have bands still hurt now. I'm paranoid as hell about what sort of dental problems are forming there because of my damn braces that I should have gotten off years ago.

Ugh, braces... has anyone else had their wire poking their gums? As in, the ends of their metal wire.

I celebrated the day they finally came off. I've been braces-free for a year now (or 1 1/2 years). I still wear my retainers every night, simply because I don't want my teeth to start shifting around.

I got my braces last year and they should be coming off by the end of the summer but my family got poor and couldnt afford to get them tightened.
So not only do I hav to wear them during my senior year but I have to wear them during my freshmen year at college. And they make me look 6 years younger, no exaggeration.

All I have to say is they better be worth it.

And yes they do poke me in the gums.

my ortho uses some clipper thing and clips off the tip of the wire so it doesnt poke me..

I used to have that problem when I had braces...It was horrible, always being pierced by the wire in the back...Anyway, I got mine the summer after sixth grade (August), and got them off in July before eighth grade...One year and eleven months...
