Braces

Haha you guys who think braces hurt never felt real pain before.

Braces don’t hurt at all. Whoever said that is a wimp.

Palatal expanders are worse.

Braces. Suck. I had them for two years, but now that I’ve had them off for a year, I only have to wear my retainer once a week. I still wear it every night out of habit, though. And it was worth it to fix my nasty little snaggletooth–I looked like Jewel. Not cute.

Never had braces. Never will, hopefully.

:)

I’ve never had them either, although I don’t consider my teeth to be necessarily straight. It’s not essential that I get them, but I think that I would benefit from them.

I got braces at the end of 6th grade and wore them until December in 9th grade, so 2.5 years. Everyone had them at the same time, so we never realized how horrible we looked, but, looking back at pictures, I can really see why people could make fun of people for having braces.

After I got my braces off, I had some sort of metal thing put in the back of my mouth. Then a top retainer that I could not remove. Then a top retainer to wear at night. Now I have this little band on my two top teeth, but it’s completely unnoticeable, no matter in what activity I’m engaged. Well, actually I can think of some very inappropriate activities where it might matter, but those won’t be happening for a long time. A very long time.
I also have a retainer to wear at night, but I don’t really wear it. My teeth never actually move. I don’t mind it though. I got my first retainer when I was 6 (one of my teeth came in in the completely wrong area of my mouth) so I’m used to it.

I got my braces in 4th grade and got them off in 6th grade. Six years later, I’m still wearing my good ol’ plastic retainer… otherwise my teeth/jaw really hurt, and I can feel them shifting.

I think I lucked out when came to teeth - thankfully they are nice and straight because my mom wasn’t even planning on me getting braces if I needed them b/c she was so sick of the medical expenses she had to make for my brother and my grandma over the years. On the other hand, I have TMJ (but I have no plans on addressing that to my mom - she will flip out)

One of my friends is getting dental implant procedure soon - she’s freaking out after watching all those videos on youtube.

I’m getting mine off next week after 13 months of having them… I keep neglecting to use those stupid rubber bands, though. I use them like every other night.
