Did anyone else get this e mail from Binghamton today?

While you await our application decision

Binghamton University was ranked 15th for its school of management program among top U.S. public colleges and universities by Business Week (March 10, 2008).

Why?
Corporate recruiters ranked Binghamton 11th among all schools for the quality of its graduates
Binghamton graduates median starting salary of $57,000; greater than Cornell, Emory and Notre Dame graduates
Students praised the schools intimate feel and responsive administration

Seems a little questionable in its timing since those receiving it may not yet know if they were accepted/rejected. Thoughts anyone?

Yea I got in a week ago and got the email today. What exactly does 15th "among top U.S. public colleges and universities" really mean? Wouldn't the more relevant ranking be within **all **US colleges and universities?

If someone has an answer, I'm very interested. I'm actually beginning to seriously consider going to Bing.

Wow, #6 is really good. I guess #1 is UCLA of course...one thing that kind of annoys me about Bing is how some book called them the premier public university in the northeast and they ALWAYS repeat that, they have like banners around their school saying that.
I think #6 public school sounds more impressive than some compliment a college guide book gave them.

I'm just curious (maybe I read right over it), but who ranks Bing as the 6th best public school in the country? If you go down the U.S. News list, Bing is more like #36-37.

nah..Bing is not 6th...UC Berkeley is number 1 and UVa numebr two..they consistently swap the top two spots. Then UCLA takes number 3...U Michigan goes number 4. UNC-CH goes number 5 and then prob U Wisconsin at madison is 6...followed by basically more UC schools. Bing is no where near 6...its good, but not top 10. It prob is more near the 30ish mark.

Right. I was just counting down the list of the highest ranked publics on the top national universities (denoted by an asterisk)...Bing came in around 36-37 of the publics schools (ranked highest to lowest) on that list. If there is another U.S. News list for just public schools (although I don't see how the ranking would change from the method of counting I did earlier), then I was mistaken.
