Brain Camp Info

I'm new to the board. I've seen Brain Camp at Muhlenberg college mentioned as a good option for HS juniors interested in Neuroscience.

Has anyone gone and really liked it? Any favorite professors or courses? The application doesn't seem as rigorous as other free programs or even programs you have to pay for which seemed odd to me. I only need to provide a letter of recommendation and a high school transcript with basic info. No essay questions or PSAT scores or anything like that.

How hard is it to get into? I'm a straight-A student but my school doesn't scale classes that much so my GPA is less than a 4.0. It's my first choice for a summer program-- I want to do something for only one or two weeks because I'm also doing an internship. But application deadlines for financial aid at programs like Great Books Summer at Amherst College and Summer at Brown are due before the Muhlenberg program. Not sure if I'd have to say yes or no to those before I learned if I got into Brain Camp.

actually, i was interested and looked in myself and i noticed that the program was for 2009. it looks like there aren’t any for 2010.

There IS Brain in Camp 2010. The weird thing is that I emailed Mary Byrne, the contact person listed, in January to see if there was one this year and she said the application would come out in Feb. A week or two ago I emailed her again since as far as I can tell no application has come out. No response yet. I plan to put in a call sometime next week. So she was planning to do one for 2010 as of January unless that’s changed.

It seems strange to me since pretty much every other program I’ve looked at has an active website except this one. The past deadlines for applications have been May 15th so I’m guessing this years will be something similar.
