Brainstorming a list...

I'm a sophomore, and I'm trying to form some sort of starter list of colleges. Here is some basic info so you guys can get an idea of who I am and what I'm looking for:
- I have straight As, blah blah blah
- I go to LaGuardia high school - I really don't know whether people have heard of it, but it is a (supposedly) prestigious art school in nyc. I have three periods of art every day, so I'm going to put together a portfolio, hopefully in time to submit it for ap studio art.
- I'm hoping to get perfect or near-perfect SAT scores and I'm sure I"ll do well on my SAT II's
- I am a total science nerd, but I'm not one of those crazy super geniuses who knows everything.
- My intended major is, tentatively, physics. I'm looking for a university that has one of the top science programs and preferably has some undergrad research
- I really want to find a school that has a good atmosphere... I'm thinking about MIT, but I don't know if I'm good enough too get in. Are there other places with a comparable level of cool nerdy-ness?
I just want to get some ideas of colleges that I can begin to look into. Any thoughts or suggestions? :)

Also:

 • I am a white female.
 • I don’t play sports.
 • No all-girl or religious schools!

Art and MIT? Sounds interesting, but I don’t know what they’d do with an art supplement. Do they have some sort of art department they could send it to to be evaluated?

You’re only a sophomore. I suggest taking the PSAT and SAT first to see how your test scores are.

But I guess I could list some schools to look into that are the caliber of MIT: Caltech, Carnegie Mellon, Harvey Mudd, Cornell, UChicago.
