****brandeis 2021 regular decision thread****

@zofro99 you already got it? how?

I got mine too. It was in the form of an update on the portal. Much to my dismay, they didn’t give me anything apart from the scholarship I earlier got. I’m an international and I guess they just inform us electronically and that’s why I got the info earlier. However, my family income is below $65,000 and the scholarship doesn’t cover even a quarter of it. All my excitement on getting accepted has gone down the drain. :frowning:

@sou1998 You should call the school. I think the scolarship and need based financial aid awards are different and rolled out separately.

@chel17 Yeah, I received the scholarship notification a day or two prior to the financial aid notification. As scholarship is included in the fin aid package, they somehow figured out that a $12,500 scholarship and no additional financial aid will be sufficient to sustain my college education

If you want, I can post the contents of the latest updates for reference.

@chel17, that’s what sou1998 is saying-- the FA package is up for him/her/internationals and he/she didn’t get anything beyond the scholarship. Sorry @sou1998.

Ours (domestic) still isn’t up, either in the portal or in SAGE.

@redpoodles Thanks for clarification, didn’t see that. @sou1998 sorry to see that there was no aid given. Guessing it may be tougher for Int’l students.

I spoke too soon. Ours is up and while it did not reach the low price estimated by the NPC, it did meet full need without gapping us or sending us into Parent Plus Land.

how are people seeing their financial aid online? I don’t know which website to use and I’ve been trying to search for a login or portal online but I can’t find anything
 Does it come in the mail for sure to everyone eventually?

@redpoodles where are you seeing that. Not on S portal that he can see.

It’s in SAGE. You have to register for your account and then wait until it goes through (up to 24 hours). Look in the right column about half way down for the registration link.

@chel17

I’m a little bit confused: I can still register for an account even if I don’t know if I’m planning on attending?

yes.

I don’t blame you for being confused. There are no instructions. I only know this because I called the financial aid office and that’s what they told me to do if I wanted to see it before the envelope gets here. They wouldn’t email it to me.

Does anyone know how you go about appealing your financial aid?

@lulu7575 Just send them an email and they’ll reply with a form for the same. That’s what I did.

Does scholarship information come with the acceptance package or is that sent separately? S got snail mail acceptance package mid last week but that contained no scholarship info. Does it mean no scholarship for him? We live in San Francisco Bay Area.

Am i the only one who wasn’t aware of SAGE? Did this appear after the acceptances or was it there since the beginning of the application process?

@VPDad - yeah the scholarship (merit-based only) came with initial acceptance package. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be other kinds of fin. aid when you receive the fin. aid one (coming soon, we hear).

And on another topic, I noticed you’re from the west coast too — how will you/yours decide between the UC school of your dreams, vs. Brandeis?? (-Just wondering
)

@howToDecide2017 Thanks for the info. I’m slightly confused at this. He got an update yesterday that he was selected for IBS Scholars International Economics and Finance dual degree program (Masters in 5 years). If that wasn’t based upon merit then how was he not offered any scholarship?
We will do some research on IBS and make a decision between UW, UIUC and Brandeis IBS. So far he seems to be excited about IBS dual degree but the cost of attendance is way too high.

Has anyone got their acceptance packages???
