Brandeis App Fee Waiver

My son just received a card saying that he can apply to Brandeis and his application fee is waived and they will give him a decision by Feb 15th. Also, a special application link was provided saying his application is pre-filled.

How many others have received this? Also, does this mean he has a good chance of getting in. Also, do you guys think he will be considered for merit aid?

All opinions are welcome.

Thanks

I got this too, and was wondering the same things! Any info? Also, the “Pre-populated” application still requires me to answer all the application questions, so… so much for that…

my daughter got this today as well, i was wondering how to use the fee waver on the common app. Has anyone tried this?

I wonder how many of these Brandeis sends…

I just searched this thread and found the same subject from last year that answers some of our questions.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brandeis-university/797997-expedited-decision.html

I got it, and so did at least one of my friends. We were both very happy :)

I got it but I haven’t heard of anybody else in my school receiving it.

what else??? grades above are without bump up for AP level
expecting 2 very favorable teacher recommendations.
have not visited yet or had any personal interviews.
like distance from home, close to Boston, size, reputation, etc.
are they really reducing merit???
how do you compare to Colgate? Lehigh? Bucknell, Union and Franklin & Marshall?

I would apply if it’s free. It’s no harm.
Why would they be reducing merit?

I hate to hear that. wouldn’t wany kids applying to schools they’re not serious about, getting accepted & taking a spot from someone who really wants to go. I also don’t apply if it’s not a good fit for me interms of academics. So. I’m asking if my SAT’s GPA, SAT’s, level of AP classes, etc. are a good fit. I wonder if the “free” applications are given out to out of stater kids to try to increase the diversity

You aren’t taking away another student’s spot…

Similar question here. Got the email and now completed the application on Brandeis’ site for application(Not the Commonapp) At the end, it asks for payment method. Since the email say our fee is waived, do I choose the Have a Fee Waiver option and just forget it? Or do I have to do some additional stuff?

CommonerCoffee:

“How does the fee waiver work? If you apply using the pre-populated Brandeis Online Application, simply select “I have or will be requesting a fee waiver” on the last page. If you apply using the Common App, select “Other fee waiver request” in the Payment section. We already have you in our database as a fee waiver recipient.”
