Thank you! I haven’t received my decisions yet. I will pay the full expense by myself and my family. @zenalc
@zenalc I’m so sorry to hear about your rejection. I was rooting for you. I bet the deciding factor was financial and had very little to do with your academic strengths and accomplishments. Wishing you luck with future decisions.
@BelovedInfidel Thank you so much for your kind words. I only applied to Brandeis as a transfer, because I wanted to stay in Massachusetts, and because Brandeis was literally the only school that provided decent financial aid to international students that would accept someone of my academic and intellectual strengths.
Nonetheless, guess I will be staying at Newbury College for another semester or two. I am just sad on the fact that I have not yet been able to experience the dorm life as I cannot afford to so in Newbury.
In the end, though, all is well I guess. No point in grieving other something that you cannot change.
I might look into Emory and Vanderbilt next semester.
I also hope the best for you @luckybaby and @BelovedInfidel. I am sure that you both will get accepted.
And @BelovedInfidel , even if you do not get accepted to Brandeis, you still have BU with that juicy, $40k aid, so I can only wish to be you.
Thank you very much! Don’t be depressed. It’s just because of your fa. You deserve better. With your strong academic background, Vandy and Emory will most probably accept you! @zenalc
Accepted. The school requests deposit by May 4th.
@zenalc That’s odd, your stats and ec look very strong. I’m an international student with lower stats than you but got accepted. I guess you were dropped because of the financial aid request?
@zenalc sorry about the bad news, but don’t lose hope. Were you transfering in Sophomore year ? If yes and if Brandeis is your dream school, If I were you, I would meet with a transfer counselor from Brandeis and ask for advices regarding classes to take, extra-curricular activities to choose from… etc. Then, I would apply to enter in Junior Year. You also can ask if the financial aid you’re asking for is an obstacle to your admission ? Otherwise, don’t let a rejection define you. We never really know what they are looking for. It doesn’t mean that you’re not good. Take the best of what your university can offer you.
Congratulations! When did you submit and complete your application? What’s you major? By the way, where are you from? @Lakeside2
Why haven’t I received my decision?
Thank you @zenalc! I’m getting nervous as the May 1st financial aid decision deadline for BU draws near, but you’re right, I’m super lucky to have a good financial aid package at BU to begin with and wouldn’t be unhappy attending there. As for not getting a chance to experience dorm life-- turns out we have that in common. I’m also a little sad that I missed out on that quintessentially collegiate experience (I’m living off-campus with my family), but I’m also nearly a decade older than the average college student, so I don’t feel like I’m missing much now. You might find similar camaraderie rooming with a friend in a college town later on in your own place, and without all the dorm drama and rules.
Brandeis’ decision doesn’t change the fact that you’re still clearly an asset to Newbury. Rejection always sucks, but as others have said, don’t let this one define you. You got this.
@Lakeside2 Congrats on your acceptance! Since your deposit is due by May 4th, do you suppose that might indicate more decisions will be forthcoming soon? Or are deposit deadlines specific to the date of the decision (i.e. you have x number of days to decide from the time of your notification)? This is more of a general admissions question I guess, perhaps you know.
According to previous threads, the second wave would be 2weeks after the first wave. @BelovedInfidel
Oh man, I hope the second wave arrives sooner than that this year. May 1st looms fast. Thanks for the info all the same. @luckybaby
So we should hear back May 4 and May 18, at 7:30 pm, if we believe the former threads,
Checked the portal just now. They are asking for a 2015 business return for financial aid. We don’t have a business. Don’t know if we will have time to call them today.
I guess it’s not important to take care of Brandeis portal now, my S has been rejected. Good luck !
Aw I’m sorry @catlalib, did you get an email?
@manicpixie yes, my son received an email just after 7:00pm. Don’t worry, my S applied to Brandeis to have as many possibilities he could in Boston area, but he did not show his interest in it like a real fan. And he was accepted to 4 on 5 universities, and one of them is his top choice: Emerson. Tomorrow he should go to the acceptance day for transfers at BU. But neither Emerson nor BU sent him his financial package. This will be painful if he receives nothing, even if he likes his safety school. I have to admit that the process is killing us. Good luck, this should be the second wave of notification, so expect to hear back today.
Still haven’t heard back, extremely nervous. The spots left become less and less.
@luckybaby How have you still not gotten accepted? That is so weird…
Yeah, some of my friends got their decisions tonight. Perhaps they will accept very few ppl after this wave. It’s already into May lol @zenalc
I’m really irked because when I called they told me may 4th, but I still haven’t heard
