My daughter is having a hard time to decide which one to commit to. She will need to decide by May 1st. What are your thoughts?
What lovely choices! I love Smith because of the beautiful Frederick Law Olmsted designed campus. But I suppose landscaping is no reason to choose a college. Unless one is highly sensitive to one’s physical surroundings.
Thanks!
If one is…then the big library construction project in the middle of Smith might be a turn off for the next three years! It will be amazing when done…but it moved Smith down the list for my DD.
Keep in mind there is no perfect school and both would be awesome. I know that doesn’t help her decide, but you can’t make a bad choice.
Would she prefer a female only learning environment?
She would prefer a female only learning environment. However, she has friends going to school in Cambridge and would like to be closer for convenience.
When my DD had narrowed it to her last two, I asked her which college do you think you will regret not going to the most? She was able to answer this question in a nanosecond and the decision was made.
Thanks! I will ask her.
There you have your answer. Smith.
Tell her:
- Never make your decisions based on what others are doing…if they move/transfer/drop out/get new friends you are stuck.
- She will find new friends at Smith…HS students often worry they won’t have any friends…but they will!
I wouldn’t make decisions based on where her current friends are going. Lots of kids decide to move on or reinvent themselves in college and they could end up not spending much if any time with her.
So what did she pick?
