Committed to Brandeis, but got a call from Wake Forest yesterday with an offer of admission off the waitlist. Totally torn between the two. Planning on doing pre-med, and know Wake has its own med school. Any ideas?
Need to give Wake an answer by Monday.
Are you Jewish? Where are you from?
@ClarinetDad16 Not Jewish, from MA, about a half hour from Brandeis, and like 10 hour drive from Wake.
Both very different. Are you interested in a different part of the country? Are you wanting to get involved with Greek life? Are you wanting warmer winters? Are you comfortable in a preppier environment?
I’d also post in the med school area. I can tell you that a lot of med schools do NOT give preference to students who attended undergrad, and in some cases it’s the opposite.
As you’re interested in med school, I’d go wherever you could get the highest GPA, the best internships, and the lowest undergrad debt.
Not too into Greek life, but not opposed to it either, I think it would be nice to get to a different part of the country, but would be cheaper to go to Brandeis as it is in-state.
Any info about grade deflation? I’ve read stuff about Wake deflating grades, but haven’t heard much about Brandeis in terms of grades. To @Pheebers point, Boston would probably be better for internships, correct?
Both schools can get you where you want to go in life. IMO it is really a matter of personal preference. What do you want your next 4 years to look like?
make a pro and con list… good luck
So interesting: your two choices strike me as very different from each other!
Brandeis: more liberal, culture more oriented towards intellectual discussions, inclusive social life with no fraternities, proximity to Boston
Wake Forest: more conservative, bigger sports culture, active fraternity culture
Both are well-regarded schools from an academic standpoint. Which culture do you prefer?
