The stupid part is, I even have an good IELTS score. So if I’d known they wanted that, I could have given it to them. Another school I applied to was missing something, they emailed me and it got sorted out. Why Brandeis can’t pay me the respect of at least letting me know beforehand that my application isn’t even being considered is beyond me.

@Maxyend They should have sent one out. I know they sent me one!

^Sent what exactly?

They should have sent you an email regarding your incomplete application/missing information!

Well I didn’t get one.

Although yesterday’s mail from Brandeis turned up in my spam box, so maybe they sent one but it went to spam. No way of knowing because my mail deletes spam automatically after a couple days.

Now I’m worried about all my other applications too, although I have received emails from universities fine before now, and one of those universities I got an email from last week sent me another one this yesterday and this time it arrived in my spam box, so maybe it’s just a recent thing.

Accepted midyear! To be honest, was a little confused and disappointed when I first saw the result, mainly because I didn’t know such a program existed…but looking at the study abroad options now, I’m kind of excited! Does anyone know why some people are accepted midyear? Maybe its because my SAT is too average/below average? :(

These acceptances/rejections are all over the place…

Do they place an extraordinary emphasis on essays?

Accepted!

SATs: 2080 (Superscore)

Essay, Letters of Rec: Great. I think they are what pushed me over the edge. I was a victim of abuse and I volunteered at a woman’s shelter later in high school.

I was really not expecting an acceptance letter. At most I thought I would get waitlisted. Not sure if I’m going to go because of the high tuition. I still haven’t even done the Noncustodial Profile thing, so my financial aid application is unfinished. Congrats to everyone else who got in!

yeah~my son got in !

I’m pretty excited because even though this isn’t my first choice, it’s tied with Northeastern (assuming I get into the honours program) for second and I was only accepted into Uconn so far so it’s really nice to have something concrete.

From a small, noncompetative public school with no APs and few honors

Dear XYZ,

Thank you for your application to Brandeis University. The Committee on Admissions has fully reviewed your application. While your academic and personal accomplishments are noteworthy, we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you a place in the Class of 2017.

Each year the Admissions Office evaluates a competitive pool of potential Brandeis students. This year we received a record numbers of applications – almost 9,500 – for only 850 spaces in the freshman class. Each application undergoes a thoughtful and thorough review process, and I assure you our committee is cognizant of the time, effort, and care that we know you put into your application. You are among a number of outstanding young men and women with impressive personal and academic accomplishments that Brandeis simply does not have the space to accommodate.

I want to assure you that this decision is in no way an indicator of your future success, and I hope that you will not allow this disappointing news to hinder your progress in fulfilling your personal goals. I know that you have an exciting collegiate experience ahead of you, and I am certain that whichever university you choose to attend will be lucky to count you among its members.

I wish you all the best in your continuing education.

[In short, we don’t want you, because you are good but not good enough. Go and find another college]

^ cannot agree more

I don’t understand why that I was rejected… Maybe it’s because of my low SAT ?.. I only got 2020 (M 780 CR 570 W 670 )… And I know that my CR score is really low… Also maybe it’s because of the major I choose: economy ,which is quite competitive.

However , I do think I have a great secondary school record. Also my teachers’ recommendation letters went well and my extracurricular activities are nice… It’s sad… Cause I thought I had a chance to get in. Or does this result have anything to do with my being Asian?

Besides, about the midyear thing… Is it only for international students? I’ve heard some people said that it’s because the university hopes to get some money from international students, so it requires students to go there earlier…Emm… No offence! I just heard some people say so.

Anyways, congratulations to those who got in !!! And those who got rejected like me …Let’s just cheer up and wait for other colleges which suits us!!
I am a fighter! :)

To KayiiLiu: I like your attitude and I think you will excel in any university you go, our dream is to become who we want to be, not only to become the students of our dream shools’. All the best!
