So I’ve been accepted to a few colleges, but Brandeis is the one I’m most exited about, as it was my first choice anyways. But now I’m a little bit nervous because I only hear bad things about the social life. I am fine with the whole “awkward kids” stereotype, but is it really that boring to attend Brandeis? I’m not a total party freak but I’d like at least a few fun things to do on the weekends. I’d really appreciate it if someone could help me out with this.
If you applied RD, you don’t know if you even got into Brandeis yet; if you applied ED then congratulations and join us on the FB group.
I went back in the day, so you may not consider my experience relevant, but I loved my social life at Brandeis. I made lifelong friends with whom I still keep in touch.
I already know that I got in, actually. Forgot to mention that… I’ll search for the facebook group (:
green678, that’s great to know, thanks! how long ago was that, if I may ask?
and N’s mom, where can I find that?
@plhemb002, How do you know you got in if you applied RD?
My daughter is currently at Brandeis. From what she tells me, social life definitely isn’t a problem. Every weekend she is in Boston, hanging out with friends, or attending a party. I think it is what you make of it.
Indeed, how do you know you got in RD…?
@jamesjunkers, thank you, but I was accepted ED2 to Brandeis so no more luck and fingers crossed for me
@sjillian15, oops! Congrats! Hope I have the opportunity to meet you next year!
For the record, social life at brandeis exceeded all my expectations I had for it. I had my standards really low from everything I had heard. Honestly I love the social life here. People are very very nice. Every weekend I’m either in Boston, at a party, or having fun doing something else! I honesty love it here. From how you describe your social preferences you will 100% enjoy the social life here. The parties are here if you want them, and there are also always ways to have fun without them as well.
Ok, maybe I didn’t make myself clear. But I applied to Brandeis ED 2, not RD. I got in but I was accepted to the 2019 midyear class, which canceled my binding agreement.
that’s awesome, good to hear a student’s opinion. what year are you in, if I may ask so?
You’re welcome! I am a freshman!!
I see you got in as a MidYear. I actually am I MidYear this year. I can tell you it may not seem like a good thing now, but it was the best decision of my life. Having a semseter off was so needed and beneficial (even if you don’t do a brandeis program). And I’ve already made so many friends within and outside of the midyear class. honestly don’t let the fact that you got in as a MidYear sway your decision to come to brandeis. Also, the Village (midyear dorms) are 100x nicer than the freshman dorms. good luck and congrats!!!
My daughter also went in as a mid year. Right after she got her decision she was pretty sad about getting accepted as a mid year, but also so thankful she was acceptably to her top choice choice. Unfortunately the study abroad program in the fall wasn’t an option for is financially. My daughter stayed home, worked and took some classes at community college. She wears pretty worried that there would already be cliques formed by the kid that went overseas, but she quickly found that it wasn’t true. Everyone was so friendly and she only has great things to say about the school and her social life there. Recently when she was home for vacation she told me that she was so glad she ended up as a midyear and wouldn’t want it any other way.
MominVt, that’s awesome to hear, thanks for sharing!! Hopefully I’ll have a nice experience there too!
