Brandeis Student Leader Comments on the Slain NYPD Cops

I’m a Brandeis alumnus sick over how the university has become a caricature of political correctness.
Recently the Undergraduate Department Representative in the African and Afro-American Studies Department had some comments on recent current events:

http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/student-leader-no-sympathy-executed-nypd-officers

For students or parents who are considering Brandeis, be aware of what you’re getting yourself into.

WARNING: THAT SITE CRASHED MY COMPUTER! That site contains malware. Please remove it.

^^This site does not crash my computer. It seems to relate the gist of the story. She must be a terrible person. I hope future employers google her unique name.

Oh come on. The original link I posted is a pretty mainstream site, and does not contain malware. @Osprey just doesn’t want all the details of the story to be read.
Here’s another link:
<a href=“Fancypants, $60,000-A-Year College Student: ‘No Sympathy’ For Brutally Executed Cops | The Daily Caller”>http://dailycaller.com/2014/12/22/brandeis-university-student-no-sympathy-for-executed-cops/</a></p>

“Oh come on. The original link I posted is a pretty mainstream site, and does not contain malware. @Osprey just doesn’t want all the details of the story to be read”

I googled it and posted the first link I found that sounded like it might be a legit news organization. There were so many pop ups on the site you linked my security settings crashed the computer (twice, how dumb am I?) and said there was malware. If you are a subscriber you probably don’t get the pop ups. Why are you accusing me of blocking the story? I think I’m on the same side of this as you. I have not heard anything in mainstream media about it but I live very south of Mass.

The student in question states she needs to get a gun and there should be an intifada in this country. She said, “LMAO I really don’t have sympathy for the NYPD cops who were murdered today.” She says, “I hate this f***kn country.” Since she is named after Muhammad’s first wife I suppose she’s Muslim.

Courts have ruled there is no right of free speech in employment or private school. There is no right of free speech to make terroristic threats.

She has resigned from her leadership position in the AASD but the head of that organization seems to support her “right of free speech.”

It’ll be interesting to see if she’s in school for spring semester. Since some very right wing groups seem infuriated, I’d say she’s in danger. Can Brandeis assure her safety? If I had a child attending the school I would be very concerned for his or her safety.

There are probably idiots like her at every university. How are you feeling about alumni donations? Is she the recipient of aid? Will it be rescinded or do her alternate views bring something to the campus? At minimum they should make sure she does not bring firearms.

It looks as though the school will try to bring charges against the student reporter who posted screenshots of Ms. Khadijah’s tweets before she deleted them. Ridiculous.

<a href=“Daniel Mael | Brandeis | NYPD | Khadijah Lynch”>http://■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2014/12/student-reporter-under-attack-at-brandeis-univ-for-reporting/</a></p>

It looks to me as if some people at Brandeis are taking action to dissociate her from associating her personal ideas with that of the college.

She’s entitled to her own thoughts, and freedom of speech is important, but she should express them as her own, not that of the college.

In fact, she made it clear that she’s not in alignment with Brandeis when she described it in this statement:

“a social justice themed institution grounded in zionism. word. thats a ( f word) fanny dooley.”

— Khadijah (خديجة) (@punQros3) December 1, 2014

Which makes me wonder why she’s even there, considering if she had the grades and scores to be accepted to Brandeis, then she also must have had other choices. If she is the recipient of generous financial aid at Brandeis, then this is not exactly appreciative.

I also don’t think her statement that Brandeis is grounded in Zionism is accurate. Maybe it was at one point, but I think the student body consists of many students- and faculty- who are not.

As to being concerned for a child’s safety at this college, my concern would be if Brandeis, in their attempt at social justice and tolerance, extended educational opportunities towards students who consider violence towards people who they believe represent what they despise ( ie, it is OK to kill an innocent policeman because of the actions of another one) acceptable, then how would any student who has different ideas feel safe?

It seems as if Brandeis is acting to distance itself from this student’s opinion, and does not agree with her.

…if she had the grades and scores to be accepted to Brandeis, then she also must have had other choices…"

The screen shots of her Twitter posts reflect a person who can barely form a sentence. I think it’s interesting that only very conservative news organizations reported on this. I think it is newsworthy. There is something hypocritical about her “fight the power” rhetoric while she attends a school that costs $60k a year.

We recently had a 57 year old state politician here in VA send cell phone pictures of himself having sex with a 17 year old. His defense has been that his cell phone account was hacked. I suppose her next explanation will be that it’s a hack. Although by resigning from her leadership position she seems to acknowledge the statements are hers.

I’ve been critical of Brandeis on CC with regard the the Ayaan Ali fiasco, as well objectionable comments by an anointed student leader of the Afro-American Studies Dept regarding the murder of two NYC cops. So, I thought I’d post this link, regarding President Lawrence’s comments about this student’s remarks. From my standpoint he could have been more direct in his rebuke, but it’s at least something:
http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/brandeis-president-condemns-lack-sympathy-murdered-officers</a></p>

it gets even more bizarre, this school is in some alice in wonderland funk

@‌zobroward – Thanks for posting the link. Here’s a more complete story:
<a href=“Campus Reform the #1 Source for College News”>Campus Reform the #1 Source for College News;

I love the part where a member of the Brandeis “Student Conduct Board” demands that the student who publicized this women’s tweets, which are in the public domain, be disciplined for his racism, libel, and cyberbullying.

So what do we have here at Brandeis? An undergraduate representative of the African and Afro-American Studies dept tweets that she has no sympathy for the slain cops and that “I hate this racist f**king country”. A member of the Student Conduct Board can’t abide by the fact that her tweets are brought to light, and demands that the student who publicized them be disciplined. Obviously, it’s racism. I’m sure next some womyn is going to come forward and accuse this guy of rape, for an incident that occurred two years ago. Victims, victims everywhere!!

Boston Globe four days ago: “Brandeis Student Stands By Comments”

http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2015/01/01/brandeis-student-stands-comments-after-slayings-new-york-police-officers/oLpI7MiV42hk3ymM05QzLN/story.html

I’m interested in what will happen next. Did she show up for spring semester? Did she buy the gun? I read that alumni have pledged to withdraw $76 million in donations from Brandeis.

She claims her tweets were taken out of context.

In what inoffensive context does one LMAO about 2 minority cops being executed as they sat quietly in their car?

I wonder if she will still be LMAO when no employer wants to offer her a job next year.

I’m not sure if this article is behind the WSJ pay-wall or not. But it sheds great light on what’s going on at Brandeis in terms of what sort of political speech is allowed, and which is not:
http://www.wsj.com/articles/sohrab-ahmari-how-to-fight-the-campus-speech-police-get-a-good-lawyer-1420241639

Again, I post this stuff as a graduate of the Class of 1975 who, after almost 40 of donating annually to the school, now encourages anyone who truly believes in open-mindedness to shun this university like the plague. What a disgrace to the memory of Louis Brandeis.

When I saw a new post on this topic I was hoping to see Ms. Lynch had LMAO’d herself to death because two more NYPD officers were shot in the last day. I have to think the rhetoric spewed has devalued police lives to some in NY.

Aw. The WSJ wants me to subscribe to read the whole article. I found it at this link:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/251782868/Sohrab-Ahmari-How-to-Fight-the-Campus-Speech-Police-Get-a-Good-Lawyer-WSJ#scribd

This is about a different incident involving Daniel Mael, the student who released screen shots of Ms. Lynch’s Twitters about the police shooting.

Mr. Mael is again in hot water at Brandeis. There is a campaign to bring charges against him for releasing the screenshots to news organizations outside the university bubble. It seems that they are living in an alternate reality at that school. Daniel Mael should be thanked. I believe he’ll probably land on his feet in a great job after he gets through his present ordeal. I’m glad to see he has attorneys.

I’m also surprised that most reporters are missing a huge point; few articles quote her earlier statements about purchasing a gun, or burning this country down, or calling for intifada. Shouldn’t it be investigated whether she intends to follow through?

So much for Brandeis’ motto:
“Truth, even unto its innermost parts”

I am so confused about why he is under fire for publishing the tweets - how is it illegal or against journalistic ethics to include those tweets, which I presume were essentially public, in an article. He is simply taking stuff that is openly on the internet and putting it in an article. Right? What 1984 are we living in here?

And why is the Brandeis community so reluctant to scorn the ice-hearted comments of the police-hater? Free speech is sacred, but that in no way prohibits criticism of the content of her messages (obviously!). Are they actually afraid of being accused of being racist??

What about freedom of the press and the journalist’s free speech rights?

As someone who ends up on the left end of the spectrum 90% of the time, I really cannot quite grasp what is going on here with this hall of mirrors.

On college campuses nowadays, freedom of speech only extends to left-leaning causes.

Love Brandeis and am hoping to be admitted to class of 2019, but am both confused and against the prosecution of Mr. Mael. The hate spewed by Ms. Lynch is dangerous.

I am very happy to be a member of the Brandeis Class of 2019 and find your posts incredibly negative.
